I can't find the website that shows toxicity ratings. I know it exists!! Anyway, we bought a Naturpedic dual sided mattress. We got one without springs, it only weighs 11 pounds or so. Lo sleeps great, so I guess it's comfy!

Many mattresses that call themselves organic, including naturapedic, use flame retardants which are chemical in nature. There are some crib mattresses that do not have chemical flame retardants added, they use wool instead which is naturally flame retardant. In any case, check out this article for more info: https://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/15/garden/15mattress.html?pagewanted=all

I purchased this mattress (not from this store but the same model):

Because it is not covered in plastic, I use a wool pad under a cotton mattress pad to protect the mattress from accidents. This works quite well.
