Multiples

Ready to jump in! Hi! (Intro)

Hello!  I've posted a few times but I hadn't gotten around to introducing myself just yet.  Guess I was testing the waters?  The boards in so many places have changed so much in the last 10 years :(

I'm Melissa, aka Missi by my tag thingie :)   I have been blessed with two amazing little girls, one of whom will turn 10 years old next week, and the other who is 11-1/2 years old.  To say I haven't been pregnant for awhile.. well.. yeah.  :p  I remarried in December of last year, and once I was finally able to move the three of us to my husband in March, we just stopped using birth control to see what would come of it for awhile before we 'serious' started to try.  That wouldn't have been much longer, purely because I'm already 37 years old.  In almost everything in life, that is still young.. unless you want to have more kids, then suddenly, you feel like you might as well have fully white hair and walking with a cane!  Just after my family came out for a late celebration of our marriage, I was sick for four days in a row.. didn't want to get my hopes up, but finally gave in and took a pregnancy test.   I was shaking so bad when I put down a positive test.  Little did I know that a week and a half later, they'd tell me that I was in double the trouble.  Back to the comment from a reply of mine "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it."  I wanted to be pregnant with twins, purely because I do not handle pregnancy well with sickness and migraines ><  I wanted two more close together in age, but I didn't want to go through this twice.  Noone told me twice the hormones = twice the sickness!!

So, there you have it.  Still a newlywed, my poor husband is just getting used to being a dad of two preteen girls (we JUST bought real bras for the older daughter), and now he is in for the whole thing.. diaper changes, sleepless nights, all of it!   I am so happy I found this board, you guys are all so supportive and nice :)  Hope I can add to that feeling.

  • Congrats! and Welcome! Carrying two is quite a challenge and I would love to say it gets easier after the morning sickness subsides but Im currently laying on my couch just attempting to breath as they are both smashing my lung space at 25 weeks lol and thats just scratching the surface of it. Its so much different than a singleton thats for sure but its not many who get to experience this and it really is amazing. Hope you have an uneventful and easy pregnancy! you will find lots of helpful advice here thats for sure :)

  • Congratulations!! At least you will have little helpers!! I was 12 when my little brother was born and he and I are the BEST BUDS.

I am 36 - I have been learning that in your later years you are more likely to get pregnant with twins since your ovaries are like a fireworks show with a grand finale trying to release all the eggs before menopause. I also have family genetics on my side (mom had twin siblings, her mom had twin siblings and my maternal cousin had twins 3 weeks ago). Anyhow, we are NOT old, but I know what you mean.

These are my first children - I always joke that I skipped my first marriage and just waited for my second marriage (had too much fun in my 20s and got married at 31)

Anyhow, wonderful congratulations and such exciting news - I hope the sickness subsides so you can have at least a few honeymoon weeks in there.
