Stay at Home Moms

ABC Mouse

Mini loves the commercials, so DH and I looked into it.  She has her own apps on the IPad anyways so we figured we'd give it a try.  So far she's really enjoying it.  I don't think "my 2 year old will be reading" like the woman says in the commercial.  I just figure if she's going to be using electronics anyways, its better to play that then the time she found angry birds on my mom's iphone and didn't want to give it up.

Anyone have any experience with it?  Pros, cons?

  • DS likes Starfall, which is similar but a bit cheaper. You can access a lot of Starfall for free and I was content to leave it at that, but DH wanted to buy it. Anyway, I don't think it would have held his interest as much at 2 as now (he's 3.5), but he might have played it some.

  • I'd recommend Starfall also.

  • DS got it free through his preschool, he loves it. It puts Starfall to shame!

Hadley isn't on the computer much at all, very very little, but even if she were on it more, I'm not paying for an website for a toddler when there are so many free ones out there.
Same here, I went to the site not realizing it cost money. I'm not cheap but I'm not paying for that.  And I feel like if a 2 year old is actually learning to read with it, they're spending way too much time on it.

@Andrewsgal Is it something that can be done easily on the iPad? Is there a lot to do?   I just said I'm not paying for it, don't make me eat my words by making it sound awesome!

  • We have it... but subscribed for DS who was 4 1/2 at the time. I think it's helped him a lot actually. He still enjoys using it even though he's in school now. I had to set up the timer to limit him since DH let him using it for 5 1/2 hours one day lol.
I haven't let the girls try it, although they do watch DS. Maybe after Christmas... our subscription expires in February so I may or may not continue it.
