Thoughts on Thalia?

What do you think for hypothetical future daughter?

From Behind the Name: From the Greek Θαλεια (Thaleia), derived from θαλλω (thallo) meaning "to blossom". In Greek mythology she was one of the nine Muses, the muse of comedy and pastoral poetry. This was also the name of one of the three Graces or Χαριτες (Charites).

    It's so, so lovely!

    You might have some pronunciation issues, but I don't think it would be a big deal to correct.

    From what I have found so far, there are a couple of different pronunciations. I like Tah-lee-ah... Would you say it differently?

    I love it!  DH has a PhD in classics and he's especially interested in Greek comedy, so while I keep forgetting to include it on my mental list of favorite names, it's definitely in the running if we ever have another girl.

    I know a little 5 year old Thalia.  Pronounced THall - e- ah

    I'll be honest, it took me a long time to get used to her name.  I think the "TH" sound seemed off to me.

    Now that I know her, I think its a lovely name.  But I did go "huh?" when I first heard it.

    I like it though it reminds me of that sweet little girl Talia who died from cancer a few months ago and made makeup videos on youtube. :/

    I know it's traditionally pronounced Tal-ya, but the street in New Orleans with the same name is pronounced Thale-ya, and I can't help but think the street pronunciation first.

    Either way, I think it's a lovely and underused name.
