Excruciating hemroids and epi free?

I'm just over 38 weeks. We will induce at 39 weeks (due to previous issues from going overdue). I absolutely feel that it is in our (mine and baby's) best interest to deliver at 39 weeks. However, I also know how painful inductions are, so I'm already nervous I won't be able to go epi free. To add to this, I've been having horrid hemroids for several weeks, so painful that they actually keep me awake at night or wake me up when I do sleep. It hurts just to sit on the toilet. Obviously even more so when I have to poop. I can't imagine being able to push a baby out.

My OB has already told me that he thinks my best option is for him to remove the external hemroids during/just after delivery while e is repairing any other damage. I agree with him, but I also know that part will also be very painful.

Ugh, I'm rambling, but basically I'm asking if anyone else has had this issue and if you were able to deliver epi free and how?!

  • I wasn't being induced so I don't know if that makes a differance since itll probably be stronger contrax but I delivered with awful hemis too. I had a waterbirth which I'm sure helped but I also used counter pressure, pushing on my rectum with my hand as I pushed baby out. HTH

  • With my first birth, I viewed it in a mirror and all I can remember is seeing a ton of hemis. It was an awful sight (and all my husband can talk about) but I honestly didn't feel anything from them. With my second birth, I don't know how things looked down there but I also can't recall having hemis. Now this time, I have horrible hemis and I too dread delivery. I'm just hoping that I won't feel anything back there. I've also considered asking the doctor to have a numbing spray available to me during labor and delivery to help ease any discomfort I may feel from them. I want to be able to focus on delivering naturally and making it through each contraction. The last thing I want to worry about is my hemis.

And I am totally not opposed to having them surgically removed if they don't improve after LO arrives.
