I don't agree with this fat-shaming is not any worse than smoker-shaming argument.
"You being fat drives up my health insurance!"
Well, guess what, you smoking disturbs my lungs right this very second and I care more about lungs than money.
I'm kind of a bitch about this, but I actually did smoke for about a year and even still I hate it. I think it comes from my best friend being asthmatic, maybe.
Also, I saw some lady at Walmart lighting up her cigarette and blowing smoke rings before she was even out the door and I may or may not have yelled "25 feet from the building!" over my shoulder.
This is kinda related to another board's UO but I only lurk on that board so I won't comment there

Re: You know what....
I give you the page two because that is where someone came on with my asthma argument and I approve of her though I do not know her.
But saying my being fat must be my fault and I am driving up your health insurance vs oh smokers are just annoying is wrong and very very narrow minded.
ALSO, I have never smoked anything other than a tobacco cigarette, I'm a good kid.
Dearest Mabel, I wasn't meaning you the specific. I was meaning you the general population but I need to stop using the general you because it confuzzles everyone, sometimes including myself.
But yeah that bitch at walmart I felt nooooo shame in yelling at her. She literally wasn't even outside before she was lit up and exhaling. Yeah.
ETA: I have diabetes, thyroid issues, and possibly PCOS, so my weight loss is SO MUCH FUN AND SO EASY. Include my anxiety and that my stomach goes along with that, and losing weight can shift like 20 lbs down in 2 years but back up real real fast.
They're actually only just beginning to study the effects of pot on the brain. Before, most of the propaganda was exactly that and nothing more. Now there are serious studies being done to see the effects of marijuana particularly because of its medicinal properties.
Come to find out that IF pot is going to affect the memory it does so if smoked during adolescence. Picking up and smoking regularly as an adult appears to have no affect. The downside is a miniscule risk of developing Alzheimer's and dementia as an elderly person, particularly for those with a genetic predisposition, but apparently even that is a very small risk. Overall we're finding out now that the benefits pretty far outweigh the risks.

I'd be willing to bet, though, that any affect on the memory as a result of smoking as an adolescent will be miniscule also.
In essence, it's beginning to look as if pot is...well, safer than most lab-made pharmaceuticals. This is pure speculation on my part, but mark my words. Death has never been a side effect of pot.

I feel like the medicinal thing is cool and I'm totally chill with that no judgement on my part.
I guess the only time I would be judgy is if you were too mellowed out to function and do your job or take care of kids or whatever your necessities are.
Hmmm.
I still probably won't do it.
But I think I said that about tobacco too at one point and lo and behold being a latchkey kid for a year broke me of that.
I also said I would never smoke tobacco. I started almost four years ago when I worked a job where the owner once required all employees to remain on site for 72 consecutive hours or else be fired. Extremely unethical? Yes, but I had a small child to care for and no other prospects. She wouldn't allow us to take breaks unless it was to go to the bathroom, sleep in the car, or smoke.
Smoking was some extra time to get the fuck away for a few minutes. Far from being addicted, I can and have been able to lay down the smokes at any time, indefinitely, and not feel any worse for the wear. But for me smoking has become synonymous with getting to step away from overwhelming situations, so when I get into those types of situations I do smoke.
