Adoption

Who's the new guy?

I've commented on a few of your posts over the last week or so but I've never formally introduced myself. My husband and I have been in the adoption process for about a year and a half. We went through about two years of fertility meds, IUIs and IVF prior to starting down the adoption road. I was told I have diminished ovarian reserve (produce eggs like I'm close to menopause). I was curious if anyone else here has experienced this. Even after my diagnosis and choosing adoption, three months later I was pregnant. Total miracle cause I had stopped all meds. Unfortunately our daughter was still born at 26weeks. I still mourn her but I also have a future adopted child out there somewhere. With this mind set, when my milk came is after our daughters birth, I decided to pump and save the milk for our adopted child. It was emotionally challenging but it felt necessary and gave me "a job" while we waited. Unfortunately I've had to donate the first milk I pumped because we still have not been matched. It was heartbreaking but the milk is going to a new mom who is in great need. I've decided I will pray like everything depends on God and act like it depends on me. I started a YouTube channel, blog, Facebook page and twitter account all dedicated to spreading the word about our hopes to adopt and finding our expectant mom. I have enjoyed reading other's posts and look forward to learning a lot here. https://joshandkrisloveadoption.blogspot.com/

  • Welcome. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope your wait is short from here on out.

  • Thank you! I was wondering if anyone here has experienced pregnancy during adoption and if they found that it "turns off" expectant moms. Our agency told us our pregnancy slowed our adoption because expectant moms want their baby to be the focus. We always thought of our children as equal. Also, how do you all get those cool post signatures? I can't seem to get mine to work.
  • Pregnancy during adoption is handled differently depending on the agency. A lot of agencies will actually put your profile on hold until a certain point after you give birth. In part to preserve birth order, in part to give you a chance to catch your breath and focus on one child at a time, in part because they may have EPs who tend to place with families who have no kids.

As for signatures, I think there's a technical FAQ somewhere on TB. There's a code to use, but I'm computer illiterate.

I'm also sending you a PM!

  • Hello, and welcome. I'm sorry for your loss.
