I didn't read the whole UO thread, but I saw something about letting your LO do *whatever* because "it makes them happy"! So what is something you let your LO do because the like it even though...well...they shouldn't?
DS's big thing now is he likes to throw his food on the floor, then eat it off of the floor. Or table. Like, when I'm getting dinner ready, I'll usually give him a little snack to tide him over, just a few grapes, pretzel sticks, etc. in a bowl on the floor. He'll take the grape out, toss it on the floor, then bend over and pick it up with his mouth and eat it. He'll also do this in his high chair, but just toss it on the table, then eat it with his mouth. I hate it, and try to curb it, but he has no interest in stopping yet, and well, it keeps him busy while I'm making dinner. Ugh...judge away. My kid eats like a dog.
A couple times recently I have let DD gnaw on my sandals because it was the only thing making her happy. Whatever, dirt won't kill her. I've also given her my iPhone to play with when I get really desperate. So obviously she is ruined for life because of the screen time.

I let DS1 play minecraft. I've met a lot of parents who frowned upon that. He doesn't play online with other players, he just likes to build shit.
That's all I can really think of right now.
ETA Gwapes reminded me, I let DS2 play with and chew on the wii remotes, and I let him pull all the PS3 games off the bottom shelf and play with them. It's the most they ever get played with.
Today he is contentedly pulling all of the shoes off the shoe rack and doing what I like to call "rearranging them". I also let him go crazy on the magazines I keep under the coffee table. Once I've read one I put it under the table in these side cutout things, and he loves to pull them out and look at them, crumple them, rip them etc.
Oh, also she sleeps in bed with us because it makes her happy. We tried the whole sleep training thing and all it did was make her terrified of her bedroom.

DS used a walker. He loved it and there were no basement stairs or anything to fall down. Until recently we let him take the cushions off the couch and jump on the springy part.
I let him pull everything out from the tv console. DH hates that when he's home, but if he's at work I let him have at it. It occupies him, there's nothing that will hurt him and he has fun.
my son loves playing with our cell phone chargers. i don't love it, but sometimes it's just not worth the fight. i do make sure they're unplugged though no plugged in items are going in his mouth!
Here's another. This would be a DS pulling all of our plastic silverware out of our cabinet and playing with it on the floor. Hey, it was keeping him busy while I was making dinner. And we just won't tell our guests at our next cookout lol.
The #1 thing that makes DS happy right now is golf. All day long. He has a set of plastic clubs and balls, and a real toddler-sized putter that is only allowed outside or in the back room, and he whacks balls around the house for hours at a time. He also demands to watch golf on TV, and he'll comment on what the golfers are doing ("He made it in the hole! He's gonna whack it! Nice shot! Ball went in the water!"). He freaks out about going to preschool twice a week, but that has gotten better since his teacher found an old set of toy golf clubs and lets him play all day there too.
It's fucking crazy. But I let him, because he loves it and it makes him happy, and I can juggle my two other babies while giving him high-fives and saying "Nice shot!"
