Babies: 3 - 6 Months

water

Ok so I recently read a post of someone wandering if it is ok to give their baby water (they were under 4 months).  I have never given any of my babies water until they were eating solids (right around a year).  So my curiosity has me going...If you have given your baby water what were the reasonings?  I am not thinking about giving my 3month old water but im just curious to know why other moms give it to their baby's

Thanks!

Re: water

  • Our pedi said water in a sippy is fine when they start solids at 6 months. That's what we did with DS1 and will with DS2. We don't put a ton in and it takes a while to get a hang of the sippy cup, anyway, so not much water gets consumed.

  • Formula gives them all the hydration they need, but I've noticed with the thicker stage 2 foods, we might need to start giving him a little water in a sippy after meals.
