My mom got us a zoo pass for DS's birthday, so I've been trying to take him once a week. I decided to go to the zoo's wild animal park instead yesterday to check it out. They have a safari tram, and we have a Curious George book about going to the wild animal park to ride the safari tram, so I figured DS would like it.
It would have been great except I didn't bother to check the park layout before going. I figured the tram would be somewhere near the front, so I left the stroller in the car, put DD in the carrier, and had DS walk. I figured we would ride the tram, then go get the stroller and do the rest of it.
Um...no. The tram is on the FAR side of the park. We missed the first one because DS kept getting distracted by sticks and rocks and things, so then we crossed over into naptime (he naps early) while waiting for the next tram. The tram was fun, but it was already 11:00 when it ended, so I tried to get him to walk quickly back to the front so we could go home.
We got off the tram at 11:00 and didn't get back to the car until 12:35. IT TOOK AN HOUR AND A HALF TO WALK BACK.
I forgot to mention that I'd left the bag with all of the snacks and drinks in the car, too...
It gets worse. In the car, he wanted to eat, but was too tired. He fell asleep with his snack in his hands. We got home around 1:30 and he started bawling and said he wanted to go to bed. So I put him to bed. Then he kept bawling asking for strawberries, so I put him in his high chair and gave him strawberries. He wouldn't touch the strawberries and just kept bawling that he wanted to go to bed. It.was.awful.
I will never leave the stroller in the car again.
Re: well, that was a poor decision...
But I must commend you on taking both of them to the zoo on your own. I was just talking to some friends about possibly going in a few weeks, and even though I'll be with other moms, I'm still hesitant to have both kids there with DH. DD is a runner when she gets excited, and the zoo definitely has that effect on her.
Definitely!
Jack has been begging me to go to the zoo. I just don't know if I can handle 3 kids and walking hills baby wearing post c section. I feel guilty.
