Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Getting the baby to take a bottle--how much crying is acceptable?

We are on day 5 of this and it is causing a lot of stress on my part. My baby (14 weeks) goes to a Mothers day out program and I always end up driving over to feed him when they can't. We have a nanny who comes in for a few hours 2x a week and she has been helping with this. She is much older and has taken cared of her own kids and grandkids (so I hope she knows what she's doing). But I am in the bedroom working and the crying is just breaking my heart when she "forces" him to drink from the bottle. How much crying is acceptable? I am not sure if this is okay! My baby hardly ever cries and this is just causing so much anxiety.

We have tried different bottles, nipples, temperature. I don't know what else to do :(

  • We had a similar problem and what worked for us was to have different people try to give the bottle and I also left the house the entire day so he knew I wasn't there. He wouldn't take a bottle from my husband, my mom ( a postpartum nurse). He ended up taking a bottle from our nanny on day 1 of her trying. She didn't tell me how long he cried...

  • We EFF. I have had problems getting her to finish a bottle at times.  I give her a pacifier for a few minutes and it seems to remind her that "hey, im hungry" and then I can give her the bottle. I sometimes have to do this multiple times per bottle. Other times I just wait her out. Keep trying over a period of time. Maybe she isn't that hungry yet? I haven't had any success getting to drink when crying or fussy.
