Washer question

DH and I have a top load LG extra capacity washer that is approx 3 years old.... We received a sticker to put on our machine to instructing not to put waterproof fabrics in the machine??? Um, that may seriously inhibit my CD plans... I am going to call LG about this because if the fabric is washable (PUL) then I feel like not being able to use my machine is ridiculous! Anyone else hear of an issue with their machine and waterproof fabrics?

Re: Washer question

  • An update after a chat with Lg... CD mommas- beware!!!! Don't buy an LG washer... You shouldn't wash your PUL in the machine... It doesn't matter which LG machine you have- none of the newer HE machines can sense the load with water resistant fabrics accurately... Causing the machines to have uneven loads.... This is not a happy CD momma right now... I don't want to hand wash PUL.

  • I may be wrong but I can't imagine a small amount of PUL throwing the whole load off. I could see a huge water proof mattress protector possibly doing so but unless your whole load is just PUL covers I doubt it would be much of a problem.

  • We have an LG front loader, and it's never given me trouble with uneven loads except maybe once with big towels. Diapers have never been a problem. I agree with @jayne1024 that the little bit of PUL that's in a load of diaper laundry is probably not a big deal, especially if you use pockets since they have an attached layer of absorbent material. Is your machine still under warranty that could be voided by washing PUL? If not, I would CD with reckless abandon.
