QOTW: Have you done any baby sign language?  If so, where did you get most of your information from (books? internet? other?)  What age did you start teaching it?  What age did LO start signing back?  What are some of the signs you find most helpful (or adorable)?  If not, what is your baby's favorite way to get their point across?

Here is E trying to get unstuck from the bumbo that she thinks she still fits in, but totally doesn't.

I started signing milk to E at 4 months, but she didn't sign back until closer to 8 months.  I learned from videos on the internet.  The most useful signs are food, milk, and more.  She learned thank you very quickly, and I like that one because she is learning manners even before she can talk.  The most adorable is that she just learned to sign I love you.  Melt.my.heart!

QOTW we had every intention of doing baby signs. But we haven't done any as of yet. And I don't know if we'll need too. She is so happy all the time. But maybe it would be good to teach manners.

Alright, I'm in today.  

The first pic is of my baby boy entertaining us at dinner.  He sure has become quite the ham.  The second is of my baby girl sitting on the toilet.  I wouldn't normally put a picture like that on the internet, but I think it's hilarious!  Potty training was a breeze (praise the Lord!).  Last but not least, I'm 27w1d today.  12w6d until my due date.  C'mon time ... keep it movin'!

ETA:  I forgot the QOTW.  I never did sign language with my daughter.  I wanted to, but she started talking insanely early and never had any issue communicating with me and telling me what she needed/wanted.  I didn't do it again the second time around either.  Even though my son isn't nearly as verbal as my daughter was at his age, I feel like I know his cues well enough to know what he wants.  I think it's cool though!

Not really! Only did the sign for milk. He does that but that is it We started early but it mainly worked once he could walk and crawl he would do the sign and come after us haha

We have not done any signing. I thought about it, but like @Ducky719 said, I don't think I would be consistent with it. For now, I think I am very good at reading A's different cries, groans, and facial expressions. She has been reaching for things she wants now. Different toys or books, the dogs, food and drinks....she wants to check out everything! It's soooo cute when she wants to pet the dogs!

We started sign language around 2-3 months? but I was only doing "milk" "all done" and "mama". Around 6 months we added "more" and "water".  I learned the signs from the internet.

M didn't start signgin back around 8 months, and he only signs "more" when we are eating.  

To get his point across, he either fusses, bangs his hands on the tray, or comes climbing up my leg.  These usually indicate he wants something...

QOTW: We do sign language with G, but just "more" and "all done." It actually started at his new daycare. His teacher started doing it with him at meal times and then we started doing it at home. It's helpful in eliminating his frustration with food. He is beginning to pick up a lot of new words and sounds lately as well, so I probably won't teach him any other signs at this age.

Here is DS this past weekend when we went to go pick up mums... he's obviously not amused!



ETA: They teach sign language at DC. DS knows more, please and milk. I would like to teach him all done so he doesn't have to throw his food on the floor to get his point across! I have no idea where to start though.

@ccam To teach him "all done" I would watch his cues.  When he throws food on the floor, do the sign for "all done," ask him if he's all done while signing it, then clear his tray.  Since he knows more, if he comes back and asks for more, you can give it to him, with a gentle reminder that we don't throw food on the floor.  Just make sure you are consistent with it, you can even try using it when he's all done with his bottle or sippy cup.  I have found that now that E understands that sign language is a form of communicating, she is picking up more signs quickly and easily.

I would love to start doing sign language with A. I learned it at a very early age so I guess I should get the ball rolling with A.

Yay!  Way to go @Ducky719.  I just love that E can communicate with me, even though she refuses to talk.
