Make it Stop!

DS has one noise he loves to make and chooses to do so the entire 20 minute commute to/from DC.  It's driving me crazy and he's still too little to distract with talking.  Imagine someone humming "Mmmm" and then add some variations (like more force behind it).  That's it.  He can make all sorts of cute noises and words, but that's the one he likes to keep making, non-stop.  It used to be the noise he'd make right before falling asleep in the car, so it wouldn't last very long, but now he's not sleeping on the ride and just keeps making the noise.  I don't know what to do to distract him while I'm driving so he might change it up.  Any ideas?

  • Turn up the music?
    ;))

How long is the commute?  Bring in a new toy or phone for him to play with. Try different music.

  • We listen to NPR on the car ride.  It's about a 20 min commute, but I think we may have to switch to music.  Turning up news reports doesn't really drown him out...
  • Earplugs? My DD likes to read in the car and we keep a special one in the back. It's part of the routine -buckle up and hand over the "ducking" book.
