Please help

My son is just about 6 weeks old and will sleep about 2-3 hours at a time MAX( at night and during day.) Tonight he went to be at 10:30 was up at 12:30, back to bed at 1:15 up again at 2 back to sleep at 3:15 and up again at 345. He has been up for 2 hours now. He is formula fed. Please tell me I'm not the only one going through this. Suggestions welcome. I'm just so exhausted and not sure how much more I can take :(

Re: Please help

  • How much is he eating at each feeding?

My DD is 8 weeks and it was only in the past week or so that she started to sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time. It was just about the time that I thought I couldn't take much more. We followed a 3 hour schedule that really seemed to help her get into a routine. We did: Eat, Play (combined for 1.5 hours), Sleep (1.5 hours), repeat until about 10pm when we let her sleep as long as she would until waking up hungry. It seemed to help get her stomach full and then she would end up sleeping for longer stretches at night.

We weren't super strict about the schedule, if she was fussy or clearly tired, she went down for a nap earlier and often longer. I think the frequent full feeding was more important than anything!

  • Is this new behavior? It could be the 6 week growth spurt.
