TTC after 35

BFN

My hpt was negative this morning at 14dpo during my first round of Clomid & Progesterone. The nurse said to test again tomorrow. I'm not sure how I feel. I'm disappointed, mildly hopeful and anxious to know what's next. I'm also a little angry. IF is so unfair. My best friend had twins on her second round of Clomid. Maybe we'll get lucky on the second round too.

Thank you. I started spotting at 6dpo and continued spotting/light Flo through today, 15 dpo.

My HPT was a bfn again this morning. I think it's a safe bet that my first round of Clomid/Progesterone failed. :(

Next steps: If no full Flo tomorrow morning, call to schedule a pregnancy blood test for Friday. If it is a full Flo, call to tell the nurse I'm on cd1. Then RE will increase my Clomid dose from 50mg to 100mg in hopes that the spotting will stop and not prevent implantation.

    At least I have a plan B.

  • Stay positive and think positive thoughts. Thinking of you!
  • Question - are you taking progesterone orally or vaginally? Early spotting can be luteal phase defect. If that's why you're taking progesterone I'm concerned it's not working. Early spotting can mean the lining is shedding before implantation can occur. I was taking the pill and they had me insert it instead because I was still spotting on progesterone. Taking it vaginally stopped early spotting and extended my cycle.

Just a shot in the dark. GL!

  • IFinTN: yes, I was monitored, but I didn't get a trigger. It appeared that I ovulated on 25 dpo, which is when I usu ovulate, except I had two mature follies instead of one. The reason my RE wants to increase the dose is for a stronger ovulation, causing the corpus luteum to produce more progesterone, which causes the endometrium to mature so it can support implantation. Yes, I have had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and all looks tip top now. The SA looks okay too. Thanks for your sympathy.

  • MarylandWed: I'm taking it orally. I have asked my RE if I have a luteal phase defect and he said no, but I intend to talk to him about it again. He did say early spotting can prevent implantation. I told him I started spotting at 6dpo and he just said take an hpt on 14dpo and we are doing all we can do. Then on 15dpo, when I told him that I thought cd1 may have been the same as 7dpo, he said it was too late to take Clomid this cycle then. He said Clomid needs to be taken on cd3. It's just so hard for me to tell when cd1 is because since my lap recovery in June, my period has consisted of about 14 days of heavy spotting and light flo. Another frustration is the RE started me on Clomid on 11dpo last cycle, so did we just waste last cycle too? It's so hard to get answers because I have to call the nurse to leave a message, wait for her call, get a partial answer, which leads to another question and then she has to ask the RE and call me back. Then the cycle starts all over again. I think I'm going to ask if I can email the RE.
