How are you introducing utensils? I have been giving Robert a spoon to play with for a few months, and recently added a fork. Once in a while I will do a hand over hand spoon or fork bite for him, but he really just plays with them and then eats with his hands. I don't just give him something like a cup of yogurt and a spoon because I'm afraid it will be a huge mess.

I give Colin a fork or spoon with his meals. He usually holds onto it with one hand and will eat with the other. Sometimes he will push his food around with it but he has yet to actually get any food onto it. He does mimic us and will bring it to his mouth. He's just not coordinated enough to get any food onto it yet. I figure he will get it eventually. I also got him a new dish that's sectioned and has higher sides to help with the utensil learning.
I still just put everything on his tray. Should I be using a plate? Do they make plates that stay down, because he will just dump everything off or drop the plate.

I try to remember to give LO a utensil at each meal. He will usually let me load bites and then he puts them in his mouth himself. Occasionally he will try to stab/dip and maybe get trace amounts. Then he gives up and lets me feed him or uses his hands. I have given him a spoon and some yogurt and let him go to town, it is definitely a crazy mess but it makes him feel so big and he's actually getting better at it!
They mostly just chew on them. For forks I do put food on it and they do a pretty good job of eating from it. I wanna try the suction bowls next so they have an easier chance of scooping.
We give them to Dagny about 75% of the time. She does attempt to get food on her fork or spoon and if she can't I will spear something, hand her the fork and she will put it in her mouth. She does do a lot of playing with it too.
just a fork, spoons i find are hard.. she does well. i have to load it most of the time. she tries to stab stuff but baby forks are hard and she gets mad
I try to give her a fork or spoon with every meal, if she doesn't have one and I do she sits there and points at mine like she wants it. So I get her one and she's happy until she's done with her meal, and then it's launched.
Even a minor event in
the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world
event.
