I only work (very) part-time. I have an on-call position at the hospital I will be delivering at, actually. It's a desk job and I am only called in when one of the two full-time ladies needs a day off or has a scheduled vacation (not very often). I plan on being on 'leave' for 6 weeks and then will make myself available to be back on-call. HOWEVER, one of the ladies is talking about retiring at the beginning of the year and I am hoping like crazy that I will be offered her full-time position. IF that happens to work out for me, I would hope they would hire a new on-call person that can fill in for me so I don't have to work full-time after 6 weeks. But that's just wishful thinking.

I'm taking 12 weeks. 7 weeks of leave is my saved vacation/sick time for the year, 1 week my work is closed for the December holiday break, and the last 4 weeks I will be taking unpaid leave.
9 weeks - 6 weeks short term disability, 3 weeks of vacation time (1 week I'm rolling over from this year, 2 weeks I'm taking from next year's bucket).
14 weeks! I'm due December 20th but my last day is November 29th (at 37 weeks) and I'll go back the second week in March. All unpaid. Which sucks but I made sure to start saving for my maternity leave when I found out I was pregnant.
12 weeks FMLA, plus 2 extra weeks bc the entire college is off two weeks for Christmas...yayyyyyy. I'm taking it all unpaid. I want to have some vacation time waiting on me when I return and DH says it'll make our tax bill a bit lower.
Our STD sucks so I opted out of it this time around. It's only 6 weeks for vaginal delivery but you have to exhaust all of your leave or wait 30 days before it kicks in, so basically I only got 2/3 pay for 2 weeks with DD.
I'm taking the full 12 weeks. I get paid a percentage of my salary for 8 weeks and have a little bit of leave built up that will get me to about 9 weeks. I told them that I might come back part time after 8 weeks, to kind of gradually get myself back into it - but not to count on it because who knows how I will feel once I see that little cutie patootie!
DH is taking the 12 weeks too, but I think we might rotate those last 4 weeks and both of us go back part time, just different times. That way we're essentially home with LO for 12 weeks, but we both end up back at work. And he has so much leave built up he could theoretically take off half the year. #*%(@)(*governmentperks*(&%)(@*#%

I plan on 12 weeks....2 paid sick time, 8 weeks short term disability and 2 weeks unpaid. All I have to do is call my District Manager the day I go into labor and he will get all the paperwork going.
12 weeks-4 of which will be PTO, 6 weeks of STD, and the rest will be unpaid under FMLA. I toyed with the idea of taking the 4 weeks of PTO and the full 12 weeks of unpaid under FMLA but I started a new job in June and there is a lot work that has to be done and a lot of deadlines that need to be met. Staying out for 16 weeks would not be good for the program and could potentially reflect poorly on me for future opportunities.
I get 12 weeks at 60% and I still get full commissions/bonuses while I am off. I am not starting any leave until I have the baby or unless the dr. tells me differently. I also have to take whatever sick or vacation time I have first before the 12 weeks at 60% start. So in total I will be off for about 14-15 weeks.
I plan on taking 14 weeks. It will all be paid. I have alot of vacation/sick time to be used and I don't get charged for the weeks we are off for christmas holidays because I work for a school district. I will also get STD for 8 weeks because I am having a c section.
12 weeks. Paid maternity leave for 6 weeks at 100%. For the remaining time I can take 30 days of short-term disability and sick/vacation time. I'm taking 6 weeks of sick time since it's paid at 100% (vs. 60% on short-term), and because I have a crazy amount of sick time accumulated. More than I will ever be able to use or cash out whenever I leave/retire.
My three-year old has been extra challenging lately and I was just thinking this morning, as I was driving her to preschool, that there's no way in fresh hell I could handle her and newborn. Not during maternity leave (she'll stay in FT preschool) and not as a SAHM. NO. WAY.
You're a stronger woman than I.

8 weeks at 100% paid. Not planning on taking any sick time or vacation time. @adawn1981, I'm putting my due date as the first day but I'm allowed to adjust that once I find out when I'll actually need to start taking time.

I wouldn't want to stay home but I do wish I could work part time.

Well thanks, but to be fair, DD is 9, so she's in school from 7:30-3 everyday. So I will have a break and she should be pretty helpful. I have zero idea how people do it with toddlers back to back.

Honestly toddler and newborn is not nearly as hard as a 2 and 1 year old
I just called too many HR ppl today asking this question!! Ugh no one has the answers...:sigh: I wanted to take the 6 weeks paid...than take 4 months off unpaid, which I thought was FMLA but now I'm kinda hearing I can only do an additional 12 weeks after traditional 6 weeks paid...ugh I just want a final answer and to make sure my job is safe when I return:/

The FMLA usually runs concurrent to disability time, not in addition to. So 12 weeks max.
I think you should double and triple check what your firms policy is.
I am taking 6 weeks paid from my saved up sick time, plus I will get the 2 weeks around Christmas, New Years paid without using sick time (I work in the schools). So a total of 8 weeks.
