High-Risk Pregnancy

Echocardiogram (not fetal)

I had a lot of questions at my appt today, so I didn't get around to asking many about the echo.  I am 13 weeks and mentioned to my doctor that I have been short of breath when I get up in the morning.  I am about 60 pounds overweight but I have no known issues with my heart and I don't think I ever had this outside of pregnancy.

When I first get up in the morning (like literally from my bed to the time I walk out of my room) it's like breathing isn't a natural thing that I just do, I have to consciously remember to breathe and if I don't, then I am short of breathe for a few.  I don't feel great for about 10-15 minutes after getting up, but the worst of it is just the first minute I am up.

My doctor said this can happen later in pregnancy, but is concerned that it's happening so early for me, and wants to send me for an echo.  Did anyone have this "forgetting to breathe" sensation this early in pregnancy, or have an echo?  Just wondering what to expect.
