Breastfeeding

Weaning or just distracted?

I don't post much here, but I do read the posts often.  I'm hoping someone can give some advice or experience... My DD is 8 months now and for the past week or two nursing sessions have been getting shorter and shorter.  She'll nurse really well for 3-6 minutes and then it's downhill from here.  She's constantly pulling off.  She has her two bottom teeth, so she enjoys bitting or rubbing her teeth on my nipple, which doesn't help.  I'll take her off but if I'm holding her, then she still tries to continue to nurse.

I have started trying to nurse her just in her room, where it's more private and fewer distractions.  If her sister is around, it's almost impossible to nurse.  She hates the cover, so that doesn't work when we're at home.

She was diagnosed with a mild case of thrush last week.  I noticed some white on her lips and cheek and took her in.  I haven't felt any pain or discomfort, so I haven't done any medicine on me, I've just been giving her the medication.

Is this her telling me she's done and she's weaning herself or is it just a phase?  I did just go back to work after being off for the summer (I'm a teacher).  Although her nursing sessions started to shorten to 10-15 minutes unless she fell asleep (normal for most people, but back in June she would still nurse for 20-25 minutes!).

I'm quite upset at the thought that she may be done, especially since I didn't nurse my oldest.  I don't want to push her if she's done but I also don't want to give up if it's just a phase.

Thanks!!
