In the beginning if October after our first U/S we are taking our parents/grandparents to dinner & ds will be wearing a 'big brother' T-Shirt & we'll just see how long it takes them to notice I'm excited. SIL is getting married this coming wknd so we decided to keep it secret a bit longer & just wait until after the first u/s.
For my parents, sister & her fam we are seeing them in 2 weeks for my sister's 40th. We are staying in the Smokey Mountains, so at some pt I will suggest we take a family photo. My DH will take the pic and tell everyone to get ready and smile (but he will have video recording going) then as they are smiling he will say ok everyone sayyy "Shel's pregnant" and then I suspect jumping and congrats all around.
For DH's parents and brother I think we are going to put DS in a "Big Brother" shirt and let them discover it.
with my first baby, I was 15 weeks when we told the families.....I got a t-shirt for my hubby that says "I'm with Preggers". He wore it under his sweater on Thanksgiving. When the whole family was in the same room, I turned my video camera on and started wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving etc......my husband said "Geez, its warm in here" and takes his sweater off.......that's when the screaming began It was fun and I have it all on video!
I've got a scan next Tuesday and will be telling my dad probably the weekend after. We're just going to show him the pic of the scan and tell him that's his grandchild. Keeping it simple.
Last time we gave my parents a card that said "congratulations on becoming grandparents". Unfortunately we lost that one and we lost my mum a month later, so it was a double whammy. I'm looking forward to telling my dad as he really needs cheering up, but we need to be sure that we actually having a baby before we tell him.
its funny, for our first baby, my parents screamed and cried and hugged and kissed and were totally thrilled! When we told my in-laws, you could here crickets in the room....hardly any reaction.....I was like ......"um.....hello?" They were happy but weren't exactly jumping around like my family was!
