XP: Preterm labor?

Not sure if this is the right place for this question.

I had DS 5 weeks early so, the NP for my current pregnancy said this time around they would give me 17P shots. Do any of you know what these are? Did you use them?

    I had my first child prematurely, at 35 weeks. This pregnancy I am getting the shots. Studies show that weekly 17P shots starting at around 16 weeks can improve pregnancy outcomes (something about the progesterone preventing a cascade of events that could lead to preterm labor).  Not fool-proof mind you.

    The shots are not that bad-you do have to have someone else give them to you, because it is an IM (intramuscular) shot and the progesterone is thick.  If you heat it up beforehand, it is not too painful. I go to my hi-risk doctor weekly to get them. I have had no side effects, other than some mild pain at injection site, and I feel more constipated this pregnancy-nothing a little Miralax can't fix!

    This is the right plave tonasl that question :)

    I also get them the 17p shot. I actually have only 5 more left I started them at 16wk I will be done at 36wks like pp said isn't bad you get it done once a wk on your booty! Studies have shown it help preterm labor by 85%.. It's basically progesterone via injection :-)
