SSC Question!

So, I'm in the market to get some new carriers now that Cade is bigger. I currently use my infant sized Kinderpack right now. I'm looking at getting a bigger one of those,but there are other options that I know of. My son is just giant. We're talking he's 8 months old and is going into 24 month clothing. He's 4 inches shorter than my 3 year old and is 25lbs easily. Should I even bother with the standard size? Or would the Toddler size be better? Or is there a better carrier for my giant child.

A friend of mine just got the toddler kinderpack. She uses it with both her 3 year old and 1 year old (he almost fits into it now). They're both pretty big babies. She loves it, and the kids look so comfy!

The toddler KP is really pretty huge.  You said he's not much taller than you 3 year old but if she's on the smaller side, the toddler KP is going to be too big for him yet.  But could be that he'll grow into it soon.  I found that it didn't fit my kiddos until at least 2.

If you like the infant KP, I'd stick with the KP.  IMO it's one of the best made carriers out there.  There are other things I like as well but they aren't likely to suit you as well if you like the KP.  The Tula is similar but I think the KP has the edge - others will disagree

@ncbelle I was wondering if maybe he'sstill too small for the toddler one. However, I'm also looking at getting an ABC. I'm also looking for a good Mei Tai and a woven for my giant kid, though I'm tempted to make my own woven. He's a hefty boy. Like 30inches and 25lbs at 8 months.

At 30 inches and 25 lbs, I like the Toddler Tula. I have both the Toddler KP and Toddler Tula and prefer the Tula, others disagree. ;-). My sons stats were like yours, we would have outgrown the standard sizes quickly with our growth curve.

By the way, my kiddo is not 3 yet and the Toddler KP is too small. If I can squeeze out 6 more months from the Toddler Tula, I will be thrilled.

The ABC is a good carrier, but I have heard not as nice as KP or Tula for big kids.

A Bloo Kangaroo Kanga XT would fit well if you have an arms out kid and like the snuggly feel of wrapping. It is not as structured as a KP or Tula.

Wompats are supposed to be good in the larger sizes too.

Lurker here. I just got a toddler action baby carrier for DD. She's 28" and 20.5lbs, it fits her really well with room to grow. I went with the ABC based on the advice I got on this board, they thought the toddler kinder pack and toddler Tula would be too big. The abc is rated from 15 to 45 lbs.
