won't eat and strains hard to poop

Okay, so my daughter will be one on Friday and for the past couple of weeks we have had the HARDEST time getting her to eat meals. She will snack, but not eat meals. Any suggestions?  Is this just a phase? Good thing we have her doc appt on Friday because we definitely plan on bringing it up to him at that time. She also has had troubles pooping the last couple of weeks. She poops during the day seems like quite a bit but she strains so hard to poop. I don't get why. She won't drink juice... I try and give her fruit, but she is just being SOOOO picky lately that I have slim pickings to work with. I try to increase her water intake but again with that not a whole lot. :/

Re: won't eat and strains hard to poop

  • My Daughter went through the Straining to poop stage as well.  I asked my Pediatrician about it and she told me that it would be okay to put a teaspoon of Miralax in with her water/formula/milk/juice.  It is not a laxitive so it is safe for her!  It works by gently replenishing the water to your digestive system, which helps naturally cause a bowel movement. This water both increases the frequency of bowel movements and softens the stool, making it easier to pass.  It was a LIFESAVER!!!!
