My son went through a period of about 4 months last year when he was 3 where he refused to sleep in his converted toddler bed. He prefered the floor. That was fine with us.
LOL. Now DD (2.5) is following in big brother's footsteps. She has been sleeping on her floor since March. We had to get rid of the crib when she started climbing out. We converted the crib, but she still would climb over the side. We decided to just put the crib mattress on the floor so she could sleep on that. Nope she would cuddle up with her pillow and a sleeping bag. A few times I would put her back on the mattress before I headed to bed. The next morning I would find her back on the floor. I pictured her waking up during the night on her mattress and wondering "How the heck did I get here??? I'm going back to the floor."
We finally got her a real bed (twin sized from my Mom's guest room) and set it up yesterday. She snuggled in with her pillow, her sleeping bag (she loves that thing) and her menagerie of stuffed friends. Woke up this morning and found her back on the floor sleeping bag and all. Silly girl. I'm fine with her sleeping on the floor. I wonder what the appeal is though. She asks me to lay with her on the floor some times and it is just not comfortable.
Re: Anyone else's toddler prefer to sleep on their floor instead of their bed?
*shrugs* I don't make a huge deal about it. At least they are sleeping.
