LOL, now I'm going to have that Greenskeepers song in my head! I'm just using my regular Eucerin (in the morning post shower), when I remember to lotion up at all. Everything I've read indicates it's primarily genetic with bit of how fast you gain weight, so I'm just trying to be smart about my food choices and cross my fingers.

nothing works... sorry atleast I don't believe it does, I do believe in using moisturizer any kind you like to make your skin feel better/less itchy, but stretch marks are hereditary.
scary but true: I had only small/light stretchmarks on my hips and my abdomens until AFTER delivery my breasts grew enormous overnight when my milk came in with my first and had dark blue!stretchmarks UNDER my breasts... yes over time they have lightened and I don't mind them a bit!
I am so lazy about this. I have some Earth Mama Angel Baby oil and lotion that my mom sent and I've been using it after showering, but I don't shower every day since I'm not very active right now. My skin hasn't felt dry or itchy at all. I also occasionally use coconut butter lotion when I think of it. So far I don't have stretch marks but who knows what will happen in the next couple of months or after baby is born. I don't think about it much actually. I figure it's mostly genetic as pp stated.
Me:41, DH:41 Positive for MTHFR mutations- one copy C677T, one copy A1298C. One daughter born on Thanksgiving in 2013. Six losses.
I did not get stretch marks until the 3rd pregnancy. My oldest daughter got stretch marks on her stretch marks. While I know genetics does play a part, even genetics can be tamed by the right oils.
I'm grateful that my genetics kept me from getting stretch marks during my last pregnancy, but I didn't take any chances and used Bio-Oil 2x/day anyway. And I'm using it again.

Mourning the loss of Amarine Stella, born at 21 weeks, 6 days. We will always love you, our little angel.
I use Cocoa Butter Formula-Skin Therapy Oil and Jergen's Ultra Healing lotion. I have used it every morning after my shower, and any time I have taken a shower or bath at night, and also any time my skin felt itchy. I haven't really had a problem with continued itchy skin, and I have no stretch marks yet at 36 weeks.
Stretch marks do run in my family, so I don't know about the "it's hereditary and there is absolutely nothing you can do", although I do not rule out that I won't still get them. Either way, I won't mind. But I feel good just taking good care of my skin.
OH! And I drink LOTS of water, every day, all day. I go pee about 5 times an hour or more, but maybe that is part of my no marks and no major itchiness either?
I love when women say they are X wks and don't believe in the hereditary predisposition to stretchmarks... wait a few weeks until after delivery when you can actually see All of your belly/breasts/hips etc!
Bio-Oil is something you can get at the drugstore, Target & CVS both carry it, and it's stocked with other lotions and stretch-mark preparations. It's a (from the bottle) "specialist moisturizer for scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging skin, dehydrated skin". You can look it up at bio-oilusa.com

Just a heads up...my OB gave me a new listing of "No's" last week because just added Cocoa Butter to no list because of new studies out. Check your ingredients.

Wow. I wonder what's wrong with cocoa butter? I haven't heard about this yet. Did your OB specify why it's now considered problematic/new study results?

They didn't say exactly, just that there are some new studies out and that they recently added it to the "No" list. I was surprised b/c just about every stretch mark cream has cocoa butter and I just bought a bar from Lush that they said to keep in the freezer and rub over belly to help with itching and stretching that I am pretty sure has cocoa butter in it.

I've been using Aveeno and Bio Oil. i used Bio Oil to lighten up a scar from stitches and figured it may help with stretch marks. None so far.... (Knock on wood)

Does the bio oil work for that? Both my girls have bad stretch marks.
I'm not sure about stretch marks. I have stretch marks on my thighs from puberty and I tried it on them but not very diligently and they may have been too old. However, it helped with my scar and I started using it while the stitches were still in. I don't have any pregnancy stretch marks (yet) so I can't tell if it will work with fresher ones.
