Facebook annoyances vent

I despise the Facebook over share - the people who share way too much, but more then that I despise the Facebook sympathy posts.

I used to work with a woman who was recently cut to part time. Every single day she posts about how she cannot do things because the hours are cut and now she cannot go a charity ride with her son because get hours were cut and cannot buy a new bike - even though 5 people offered to lend her one on Facebook. I get having your hours cut sucks - my whole job was eliminated in June, but stop posting about it on Facebook. How is it helping to complain over and over again. Yuck

  • I completely agree. I have a few people like this on my Facebook and I cannot believe the stuff that people are willing to share that way.

Ugh, I hate people that do this too.  She probably just wants sympathy and attention and Facebook is an easy way to get it. I have a friend who does nothing but talk about her kids and her health problems, and it is so irritating, but she has been an attention-seeker since Junior High so it's not surprising.

I always wonder if people who bitch about their jobs have any Facebook friends that they also work with, because that always seems like such a bad idea, even if coworkers agree with you.

AGREED. I have a "aquaintance" who I would love to unfriend but fear she would see that I did, and we see her in person a few times a year. she posts probably every 3 hours, and with the DUMBEST things. "changed all the sheets on all the beds, feel so accomplished".  "feeling a tickle in my throat. Better call the doctor". "Called the doctor, have an appointment at noon, yay!" "Went to the doctor, He told me to drink hot tea and honey."

Seriously. No lie. those are her three posts from yesterday morning

Can you hide her so you don't see her post but the friendship is still there? I have people who also post every mundane thing, or even worse, they reply to themselves in the comments.

  • This woman is also ALWAYS posting about not feeling well or her kids not feeling well. Maybe I should unfriend

That tops my chick by a little. It is weird - they are always so surprised and shocked they are sick and yet they post it all the time

  • I think I'll take those mundane posts over the people who post nothing but meme's and such, and when they do, its like 25 all at once.  ughh!!!  you can absolutely bet I've hidden those feeds.  There is one exception though, the someecards.  The good ones are ALWAYS welcome!

  • I am so with you!!! I also get annoyed with people who HAVE to post at least like 3 statuses a day. They end up on the weather. Lame. Then when the weather is GORGEOUS it's something like "Well this day is BEAUTIFUL but ugh the sun is setting earlier everyday!" COME. THE. EFF. ON.

I also feel really bad for the children of my FB peers whose parents seem to think the appropriate way to announce that your toddler is potty training...is with a pic of him/her on the damn toilet. Child predators, anyone??

  • I hide people like this.  If I see your post and it causes me stress or annoys me, there's no reason for me to see it.  I have hidden my mother, one of my good friends from college and her husband.  And a few stragglers from high school that felt the need to friend me even though I haven't seen them since we graduated.  I want my feed to be uplifting and entertaining.  If you don't fit into that mold, I don't want to look at it!  I don't unfriend...too much drama.  I don't care if you can see my stuff, I just don't want to see yours!

  • i can't stand the duck face selfies. or the 'outfit of the day' pics.
i sooo badly want to comment that their choice of outfit makes me question their profession. Micro-mini skirts to the office? really? are you really sure you work for an insurance company?
