I did my registry this weekend and we decided on Walmart, Target and BRU. It was a very overwhelming experience. We have been to these stores before and looked around. We though that if we choose different store options we would scan a variety of items at each store. We knew family and friends would not go to each store and for specific things so we duplicated so items at each store.
Was this ok? I have been hearing you only scan certain things at each store but that felt weird to me because what if I scanned bottles at Walmart and that person only went to Walmart then that is all they would think I wanted. I am a FTM and want to do it correctly if there is such a way.
How are other FTM moms registering for multiple stores?
Re: Registry Confusion!
I would not recommend adding the same items to multiple registries. It will absolutely result in you getting lots of duplicate items at your shower, which could be a pain in the ass for you later on when you have to make a bunch of returns. Also, as a shower guest, I'd be kind of bummed if someone got the same you the same gift that I did, and I'd wonder why/how that happened.
We're only going with Babies R Us, because they happen to have all of the things I want available there. If they didn't, I would have made a second registry for whatever items I couldn't find at BRU.

I think the problem with registering for the same thing at multiple places, is that you could end up with 3 of the exact same items, and then you have to go through the hassle of returning these items, which I've heard can be a real pain. If you decide to keep your registries as they are, I would recommend checking them daily, and when something is purchased from one place, deleting it from the other registries. If not, plan on lots of returns!
If you do decide that you are willing to change your registries, you might want to designate certain stores for certain types of items. For instance, maybe you register for clothes, diapers and wipes at Wal-Mart. Register for bath items, feeding items, and bedding at Target. And Register for toys, furniture, car seats at BRU. This will be helpful for people who want to make you a gift basket of "themed" items, such as baby bath care items.
No, you're doing it right. Many times people will be told "Mrsprovost7 is registered at Target, BRU, and Walmart." So they will know you are at multiple stores. If you have an "incomplete" registry in their eyes at one store, I'd assume you had the rest of the stuff at another store. Plus all the registries are online these days, so it's easy for them to confirm you are asking for the rest of the stuff and choose a store appropriately.
