Success after IF

~*~ Cinciem ~*~

Hey @cinciem.  I saw you mention in the TTC Again Check-in that your LO is working on self weaning.  Also, how are you possibly 26 weeks already!?!?  I was wondering if you would be willing to share some of your journey of breastfeeding while pregnant.  How did it go for you?  What positions/holds worked/didn't work as you got bigger?  When did LO start weaning, and how did you know it was time?
My ideal goal this whole time was to hopefully get KU on my own so I didn't have to wean E, or so that she could wean on her own when she decided she was ready.  But apparently MH wasn't fully aware of this plan, and thinks we should continue on the weaning plan we had.  Your story would really help me and hopefully help MH feel more comfortable with continuing.  You can PM me if you don't want it here on the SAIF page.  Or I can PM you my email address if you don't like the PM here.
Thanks!

Re: ~*~ Cinciem ~*~

  • Thanks @cinciem.  I don't plan to tandem nurse, I guess I was sort of hoping E would go ahead and self wean during pregnancy.  Since she's over 1, I'm not worried about losing my supply.  I think my supply is already going down though as I'm pumping less ounces per day.  And I'm about to drop a pump, so that won't help.  My goal was to get her on regular milk during the day, and nursing morning and night only.  I guess I'll just take things as they come and see what happens.
That sounds like a great position, I'll have to try that with E.  At least test it out a few times before I get a belly.  Has she shown any signs of decreased interest?
Thanks again for sharing your story.

  • That's awesome!  It really sounds like it is working out well for you guys.  I hope things go that smoothly with us.  I'm a little concerned about how I will calm E when she's really upset without shoving a boob in her mouth, haha.  That's always been mommy's secret weapon!  I think E's favorite session is the after school one.  I guess she misses me all day and needs that comfort.  I think we might end the before bed session before the after school session.  Like you, we have a good bedtime routine.  Usually she only nurses for a minute or two before she's ready to get in her bed.
My mom was joking this morning that I'll have to nurse her and the new baby both when I drop them off at kindergarten.  She doesn't think E will ever want to quit nursing.
