Any Amazon Mom Users?

I recently added the Amazon mom to my account and today received what I thought may be the first useful item email but now I'm not sure these are any special deals.  The deal is for 25% the leachco cuddle nursing pillow and more.  I registered for the Boppy nursing pillow and baby lounger separately and thought this one sounded like I could eliminate both of those and have and all in one.  The price of the leachco is only $18.99, significantly less than either Bobby item.  At first I thought jackpot but then I looked and it doesn't appear you need to be an amazon mom member to get the price.  Does anyone know the point then of the amazon mom?  I just don't want to be tricked into getting something I wasn't going to initially get because they are making me think I'm getting a deal.  And just curious... has anyone used this all in one pillow?  Is it as good as the Boppy ones separately?

Re: Any Amazon Mom Users?

  • I think the main thing with Amazon Mom is 20% of diapers and wipes plus free Prime (2-day) Shipping, which you do not receive if you are not a member. I am sure they do send you deal alerts like that once you register since they assume you either are a mom or are soon-to-be a mom but I know the 20% off diapers and wipes is exclusive to those in the program.

  • I used Amazon Mom before they made the changes.  You have to be Prime now, you didn't before.

The best deals through Amazon Mom were for diapers and wipes, because it meant 20% off and free 2 day shipping.  That was for all baby items though, not just the ones I mentioned.  If you are planning to use disposables, baby wipes or formula, it will be worth it.  Do you know if you get a percentage off?

  • I am already a prime member so the cost isn't anything extra to me.  The email just made it sound like I was getting 25% off this pillow but after looking closer I don't seem to be getting any extra discount.  I don't want their seemingly low price to dissuade me from other things I was going to get if it's just a marketing thing.  I guess once I start using items regularly I'll be able to spot the good deals on wipes, etc.

A good friend of mine used to to the extreme couponing thing.  I believe you want to look for prices of .03-.04 cents per wipe or less for it to be a good deal.  Amazon also lists that.

I can't remember the amount per diapers but it was well under .50 cents each, I believe.

  • We're going to be cloth diapering, but I was in Costco yesterday and looked just for the heck of it and they seem to have some great deals. $38 for 210-250 packs of diapers depending on the size which is far less than .50 per diaper.

  • I plan on buying Prime before Christmas and then signing up for Amazon Mom after LO comes for diapers and wipes. I live in a remote town, so to get to Target, BRU, etc, to chase sales is very time consuming (and gas consuming).

  • I only use it for diapers.  Our store in town doesn't carry the only kind DS isn't allergic to.  This way they get delivered to our house every two weeks.  Super convenient!

  • Thanks for posting this, I had been wondering the same thing. I have found the best diaper and wipe deals at Diapers.com (which is actually owned by Amazon). I have purchased a few large boxes for less than 10 cents a diaper. I know this is a no-no, as you don't know which diapers baby will like, but for that good of a price, I just couldn't pass it up!

  • I looked at the amazon website the other day without logging into my amazon mom and the prices were different.

  • I use it for diapers, wipes, diaper genie refills, and baby food occasionally. If you subscribe and save to more than 5 items a month you get an extra 20% off...we use Amazon mom for a lot of stuff. My DH looks into price per item and everything and we've found Amazon Mom is our cheapest option. We also use our prime membership a lot though.

  • I'm confused. You have to be a prime member first & then sign up for amazon mom. Right? Do you have to pay for both prime & amazon mom? How much is it?
And is the 20% off everything or just diapers & wipes now?
  • I think you can get a free trial [30 days or something like that] if you sign up with Amazon Mom, but in order to keep getting the perks, you have to pay for the Prime membership as well [which is where the free shipping comes from]. Prime is $79/year and also includes access to the Kindle loan library, their Prime Instant Video stuff [which is almost like Netflix], and the free 2-day ship [and $3.99/item overnight shipping].

I shop religiously on Amazon, so I've been a Prime member for years and use it for a lot of stuff besides diapers/wipes. The 20% off is just for diapers and wipes for now, but they usually do discounts on other things. A couple of weeks ago, they were doing 15% off some Disney-related items and books. The discounts vary.

  • Also, they once in a while have specials where if you use the code they send you you can get an additional percentage off. i.e. right now, if you use the code baby0913, you get an extra 20% off certain items. We got DD's convertible carseat (diono radian) for really cheap with this code.

  • I've been a Prime member for about 3 years. I don't think I'll ever give it up. Still not sure what Mom adds to my account but I recommend Prime to anyone! Between the shipping and the streaming, it's just the best.
