Anti D injection

I have my anti d injection on weds for rhesus neg blood... Just wondering has anyone had there's yet? I've heard stories that the needle is ridiculously long!! And it goes in your bum?
All I know is that I had to wait 20 minutes after incase I have a reaction... Safe!

Re: Anti D injection

  • Yup I've had mine, and yes in the bum or top of the thigh. I brought some nice knickers just for the occasion lol
  • Loading the player...
  • @frankierokx did it hurt? Haha omg don't I've been thinking shall I buy some new knickers too as I've been modelling some pretty awesome granny knicker bloomers lately ... All my other ones have got too tight... A thong just feels like its slicing my arsehole open hahahaha !!
  • @Hannie3 it stung afterwards but I think that's because they stabbed me right in the middle of my ass and I had to wait the 20 mins so I sat down!

I'm in the same boat all my pretty stuff I've put away and ive brought some big comfy things but they have got those horrible flowers on that reminds me of granny's old wallpaper lol. So I went out and brought just one pair of nice French knickers for the occasion.

I thought you had to be 28 weeks to have it done..

    Haha love it !!
  • It shouldn't hurt if its in the butt. But if the needle is long and goes deep it may hurt after like @frankierokxs said.

If you have ever gone in for a migraine this is where they inject you and twice. I have been in two or three times for migraines.

I'm not sure if I'll need the shot? My doc hasn't mentioned it yet. But I also chose no not do very much genetic testing.

  • @Hannie3 I had it last week as a precaution when I was in the hospital.

I have my own migraine kit at home, the needles are huge but I had to inject my thigh, they stung like a biatch afterwards!

Ugh... You poor thing! I have not had a migraine in a few years knock on wood. I used to have to take methotrexate when I was younger though because I was diagnosed with juvenile RA. Being a gymnast with strong muscular things was not ideal!

Before I was pregnant I suffered with them constantly, it was just a nasty side effect of Meningitis. I used to take a Sumatriptan injection in the morning and at night, it didn't do nothing for me, I was also on Codeine and Tramadol, and I also had to take a Beta blocker too which acted as my anti-depressant. But since I've been pregnant I've had just a handful of headaches which paracetamol has sorted straight out!
  • I've had it with each of my pregnancies and it isn't that bad. It stings a bit but nothing to worry about.
