High-Risk Pregnancy

PCOS and being pregnant

Hi, I'm new to this and a new mommy to be. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 months ago and found out I am pregnant last Sunday. I'm very scared of a miscarriage because of my PCOS. I will defiantly speak to my doctor about this but I would like to hear from anyone who had or has the same fear as me? Just curious.

Re: PCOS and being pregnant

  • Are you taking Metformin for your PCOS? Or have any history of loss?

  • I was on metformin 1500mg extended release until 14wks I also had my progesterone cked. Woman with pcos tend to have low progesterone which can cause mc. I hight suggest you ask dr to ck it. Anything about 15 is ok but you would always want to push for at least above 20. Anything below 15 is low and you should be put on supplements. Mc is common it pcos. I had one early mc and on late but the late wasnt related to pcos..

    Congrats on your bfp. :)

  • I pcos and I'm insulin resistant a well. Did you go through fertility treatments to get pregnant? If so based on your levels they will put you on progesterone which I took twice daily until I was around 8.5 weeks. I would just ask your doctor to be on the safe side. I'm on my cell so I can't see siggys. I have never heard of mc due to pcos ever. Just an issue when getting pregnant. Congrats and good luck!

  • I have PCOS too and was on metformin until 9 weeks. I'm just shy of 36 weeks now and the only complication I've had is GD which got diagnosed at 28 weeks and I was told that it was a good possibility because of the PCOS. Congrats and good luck to you!!

  • Pcos its self doesn't cause mc but the affects it does to your body can, that's why metformin and sometimes progrestrone is suggest. Me personally I never had a progesterone issue so didn't need it but the met I believe did help me get to 2nd tri...
  • Hey ladies thanks for the feedback. I got pregnant naturally but I was on birth control and I found out I was pregnant by my doctor when I told them I was having cramping. I never tried metforman but I had the choice to and instead decided to go for birth control. I was not planning on getting pregnant. I'm very happy I am, I thought it was going to be very hard for me, which makes this pregnancy a miracle for me. I will defiantly ask my doctor everything you ladies suggested. Thank you.
  • Oh and this is my first pregnancy :)
  • Hey I don't post much, but I just wanted to say I have pcos and I am 34 weeks pregnant...never had troubles with progesterone and I stopped metformin myself cold turkey (from takin 1500mg XR daily) around 6 weeks because my morning sickness was unbearable and it made it worse. Pcos hasn't posed any extra risks on my baby girl, just maybe the high blood pressure (which I know is weight related too but pcos can contribute to that, as I never had when I was a healthy weight, only til I gained a lot of weight) but my advice for you would be to relax as much as possible and try not to google everything because it'll drive you crazy and make you nervous for no reason! Enjoy every moment, it passes quickly.
