Reaction or Coincidence?

LO started peaches two days ago. Today he has had three up the back poops, one requiring a dunk in the tub :). I've heard peaches can cause this. So is it a reaction, and i need to stop giving him peaches? Or is it just the natural laxative effect if peaches? Or maybe it's just coincidence. Thoughts? Oh, and I should add he has no signs of distress like pain or gas and no vomiting.

Re: Reaction or Coincidence?

  • Sounds like it's the laxative effect of the peaches. I'm not sure if you have to stop. If you're willing to have to clean him up for one more day, I'd give the peaches for 3 days just to be sure he's not allergic, then you can move on to something else, but preferably something that's not a laxative ;)

  • A lot of the "p" fruits (peaches, pears, plum, pumpkin) can cause a laxative effect, especially in little ones. As long as there are no other symptoms (rash, swelling, etc), it's probably not an allergy and you don't need to worry. Just make sure those diapers are on nice and snug and maybe add some bananas into the rotation to counter-act the effects :)
