Naps

How many naps are your LO's taking these days? Ds still takes 2 a day, usually one of them is two hours and the other one is around an hour. We are going to be moving soon and he is going to stay at my sisters house, she watches a few other kids. I'm worried about how this is going to affect his naps. Anyone who has their child in daycare, how did a change affect the naps? He is so used to taking naps in his crib, that I'm not sure he will do well sleeping in a pack and play or whatever. Advice?

Re: Naps

  • My DS is down to one 2.5 to 3 hour nap a day.

Can you try to introduce the pack n play now at home in his room for naps? This way he is getting familar with a new bed but in a place he is familar with so when he goes to your sisters it will be a new place but a now familar bed. Might make the transition slightly easier.

  • My DD just started daycare last week. At home, she takes two naps a day, 1-2 hours each. The first day or two at daycare she wouldn't nap at all. The last couple days there, she went down two times, for a half hour each time. I think she will get more used to it as time goes on.
I wouldn't worry about your LO, I think they adjust!

  • 1 nap a day and its been this way for a month or 2.  It sucks but thats what B wants!  His nap is usually around lunch time and it lasts anywhere between 1-3 hours.

  • DS1 is kind of transitioning.  Ideally I like to keep him up as long as possible in the morning so that he takes a long nap around 1130, then hes good until bedtime.  However, depending on what else we have scheduled for the day and how well he sleeps at night, he ends up having a morning nap which in turn requires a 2nd nap in the afternoon.  But this usually makes his bedtime and nighttime sleep not so good.  Its a vicious cycle. Giving it a month before it becomes more of a set routine.  DS2 is due in less than a month, having a good 2-3 hour nap will be helpful vs. two 40-60 minute naps

  • 1-2 naps a day. A 75 minute one around 10:30 and sometimes a 45 minute nap around 3:30...sometimes.
  • One. He takes a 2 , sometimes 3 hour nap. Every once in a while I try to sneak in a short second nap if he's extra cranky.
