I have such a pathetic gripe. I really wish people would stop giving me things "to hold on to" until DD is older. I don't want to store something for two years - or more. The only thing I've gotten that has been something where I could understand it was my best friend giving DD her wooden dollhouse from when she was a kid. She wanted to get it out of her parents' house, and it was an incredibly sweet and thoughtful first birthday gift. But trying to find a place for all the little toys and knicky knacky stuff that DD can't have yet, and hoping I don't lose them because I'm sure I'm going to get asked about them, is making it really hard to organize her closet.

Alright, now I'm going to flog myself for not having something REAL to worry about.

I completely understand! With DD1 a family friend have me her grand daughters old clothes...she was 4 years older than DD (:|

I get sooo much stuff!! Lots of it is great, and useful.. But sometimes I'll get like old McDonald's happy meal toys sent my way... Lol, and then I feel bad trashing it!! I have a box of stuff in my basement that we were given but won't ever use.. One day I'll throw it out!

I have just been giving like crazy to Goodwill. Sigh.

My SIL has 3 boys and gave me a ton of hand me downs that all 3 kids wore and they aren't the most gentle kids so I never even opened the box! So now I politely let her know I don't need them. I wish I could take hand me down clothes but I have a shopping addiction. Although I look forward to my girl hand me downs since the people I'm getting them from dress their DS amazing!

I get some FANTASTIC girl hand me downs from a friend, all Baby Gap and Children's Place and stuff I can't afford, and she just checks in with me every six months or so to see what size DD is wearing and lets me pick through her stash. IT'S THE BEST.

Of course, I, too, have a shopping problem, but I have zero dollars most of the time so I only buy DD an outfit every couple of months.
