cost of twin mattresses?

Looking for a rough idea on what the average is to spend on twin mattresses. I have only shopped for DH and I and tend to try to buy decent quality. I know DS will be on it for awhile and perhaps another sibling down the road but not sure how much to pour into it. Do you remember roughly what you spent?

  • I bought a Simmons Beautyrest with 10 yr. warranty mattress set for $300.  It's nicer than my own mattresses!

I bought IKEA mattresses- under $100.   I reasoned it this way- even with mattress protectors- kids are rough on them- think wetting the bed and vomiting all over it.  I do not look at kids furniture as something to spend a ton on since it takes a huge beating and looks like it did.  Now when they are older- yes I am all for buying better quality.
  • We bought a nice full sized mattress for about 600, no box spring. Because it is full size it will be her bed for a long time and guests might sleep in it from time to time so we were looking for something good.

  • I think we spent about $400 inc. tax + delivery for a Sealy mattress and box spring.

I second this. We did buy an expensive cover though.

  • Just spent $138 on twin mattress and box spring. Not the highest quality but we are putting foam on top.
