Update about being sued

I don't post much because (a) I have been really busy and (b) my situation is so over the top sometimes I am afraid people will think I am a troll.  But for those of you who know I have been around these boards for a long time and want an update (https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/9106268/unexpected-update-i-m-being-sued last post is there), here ya go.

Today was finally the court date.  We got up to the magistrate, and right away she had a "WTF" look on her face.  She was so confused on why M's GRANDPARENTS were suing us.  I spoke for maybe a minute, and then she looked at M's grandfather (M's grandmother left because she didn't want to miss work) and lectured him about how ridiculous this is, and how she feels bad for the child.  I agreed, she dismissed the case, and my husband and I took off.  But M's grandfather stayed and kept going ON AND ON to the judge.  I could hear her saying, "It doesn't matter, I gave my ruling."

To make this day extra crazy, we got THE CALL!!!  Well, as much of "the call" as you get from DCF - we are being strongly considered for 3 girls (strong enough for our caseworker to email and call us repeatedly when we didn't answer within a few minutes).  They are 3 Caucasian sisters, age 3, 1, and 5 months.  The three year old has some behavior issues that will need therapy, the 1 year old has a "foreign object in her head" and the 5 month old has reflux.  We are awaiting more info, but this is looking like it may be a good match! 

To make this even crazier, we are leaving for Disney tomorrow.  The last time my son went to Disney with my parents in May, a couple days before we got called to take a respite care child.  So we have been joking about since we booked this trip that "watch, we will get called with placements right before."  Turns out we were right - just hoping this trip doesn't affect them considering us.

I have to go pack, just wanted to update since so many of you had kind words when I last update.  Didn't want to leave you hanging!

I am so sorry you had to go through the ordeal at all, but thrilled to hear that the judge saw right through them and threw the case out.  I can only hope our situation is resolved as completely in time.

Also, congratulations on getting the call!  When will you know if you will receive the placement?  In the meantime, I hope you are having a great time on your trip!

Great update!  Hope things work out with the girls and I wish the judge fined your in-laws for wasting the courts time and bringing a frivolous case before them.  Enjoy Disney.

We found out while we were in the magic Kingdom Friday that we were not chosen for the girls. We are obviously very disappointed, but are thrilled to know our home study is being looked at and considered.
