I remember someone writing about how they "leaked" more fluid when standing as opposed to sitting. Does this also mean that the chances of your water breaking while standing are more then while sitting or laying down? I would think that act of standing up could be "straw" the potentially sets it in motion.
So, for those of you have had your water break on its own or know people who have, was it just random or was it after they stood, sat, jumped, etc?
Random Friday question I guess...

DS1 started descending the birth canal, which had an impact on the flow of fluid. When his head was down, it acted like a plug. When he turned his head, it allowed for more gushing. Sitting kind of forced his head down again, and standing allowed him more room to wiggle. Walking just allowed him to move how he wanted, so I'd have some dry steps then gush a few steps...

When you get to the hospital they check to see if your water actually broke by using a cotton swab thing that turns black when it touches the fluid. They just swab the outside of you, it doesn't even go in.
Another sign is that if you sit down wait awhile and then when you get back up you have more come out.
Disclaimer-yes it can be a slow trickle...but generally when it truly breaks you know and can tell/feel the difference. (IMO)
(Ironically, I was supposed to be going to the hospital in the AM for a c-section due to high BP.)

We were shopping when I felt the tiniest little pop and little bit of fluid. Every few strides while running to the bathroom was more leaking. I'd say it was like 1/8c each time. Sitting on the pot the gushes would just come and go as they pleased. I cont'd to do this for 3 more hours with little gushes. Turns out, about 7-10 hrs later, still tiny gushes, they still had to break the other side of the bag that was being blocked by DD's head, which probably explains why I'd get little gushes that would slip under her and out.
Also, I've watched those episodes of Maternity Ward where the women cry and scream during the water breaking period. For me, it was nothing at all to be afraid of.
