I have a very mobile almost 9 month old, who wants to get into everything. typical boy:P But we have mastered baby proofing everything besides this one cord. We have tried everything to get him not to play with it but it makes me so nervous playing with a cable cord. I've tried putting stuff in-front of it, and it doesn't work. was wondering if anyone knew of a baby proofing idea that will keep my crawling monster out of the cord. Thanks!
I'm going to need to know more specifics on what this cord is and what the fear is. Is it long and you're afraid he'll strangle? Is it that it plugs in and you're afraid he's going to unplug it? Is it that it's connected to something heavy and you worry he'll yank it and pull the thing down?
It's the cable cord that connects from the tv in the living room and goes into the bedroom for the cable tv. There's a long cord that goes between the two, but he's pretty good at not messing with that. He just likes to pull on the cord that goes into the wall and i'm worried that he's going to pull it out of the wall or get shocked or something.
I don't think it's possible to get shocked by a cable cord. Pretty sure he could yank it out of the wall and chew on it and be fine. Even if he got it off the wall and stuck fingers in the hole, it's not an electrical outlet...there is not real danger.
If this was dangerous then for sure there would be numerous contraptions for sale in every baby store to make more money from us mom's! I've worked with young kids in many settings and never has this been a concern in any of those settings.
He'll soon enough get bored with it and move on to something more dangerous lol!
