Night Crew Check In

Good evening mamas.

Put down LO at 9 and here we are at 10:30 awake and eating. What happened to the initial 4 hour stretch?! She was so crabby and fussy today and I was hoping that would mean a good night sleep from her so I hope this isn't foreshadowing anything. I'm freaking exhausted.

  • Crabby fussy days lead to horrible nights in my house. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be the case for you @mrsbiggs2be LO is waking up for her midnight feeding now. Hopefully we can get a good 3 and 4 hour stretch from here! I look forward to a night that I'm only up once to feed.
  • I didn't realize I posted in yesterday's thread. My bad.

Today I cried. DS is dealing with gas and a possible growth spurt. He's been fussy, irritable, tired (but won't sleep), and constantly nursing all day. And then we went out to dinner with the IL's, against my will (thanks, dh for the Jewish guilt trip he laid on me today), and DS spent the entire dinner latching, unlatching, or crying hysterically under my nursing cover at the table. I was livid since I knew that would happen, and dh didn't believe me. Thankfully, DS is asleep on my chest, and I'm hoping we both get some rest tonight. Mommy is beat.

  • DD has been asleep for almost an hour. I'm enjoying my quiet time by watching football. :)
Night before last she did a 6 hour stretch and it was amazing. Last night not so much. Up every 2-3 hours. She was awake for a good deal today so I'm hoping for another long stretch tonight! FX!
  • DD just woke up to eat; she was asleep for two hours, which is the longest she has slept in two days. She has been fussy and grumpy since yesterday. I got all of three hours sleep last night and it doesn't look like I will get much tonight either. :(

Nothing makes her happy, and it is super frustrating.

  • Ugh the 3 week growth spurt was brutal. I also cried. I was just SO tired and that's all I kept repeating to my mom through tears. She was very reassuring that everyone goes through this and that it does get easier.

  • LO has slept pretty much all day. I'm currently trying to get her to sleep. Lets hope she gives me some amount of sleep tonight!

Feeding LO while watching the game. Pretty sure he's going through a growth spurt since he's been cluster feeding the last few nights. I've been avoiding pumping since I never know when he's going to want to eat next, then it dawned on my monny brain that I could bottle feed him if I just pumped. I'm special these last few days.
@LAMuehlen I love Big Bang Theory! That's awesome and a great way to fall asleep :D

I love it also! I have a nerd crush on leonard. Im usually up around one feeding ds so im totally holding db to his word

LO has been up since 10 this morning. She has had a 20 min nap and then a good 2 hours or so in the car. I'm hoping she will zonk out before 3 so I can get some sleep. Her cord stump fell off last night, so tonight she got her first real bath and she loved it. (One hand typing is hard.)

  • Little man has been sleeping all day. I had time to clean the house, catch up on emails, make and eat lunch...I felt almost normal. I really hope I won't bs paying for this tonight. I really hope he sleeps.

When he's awake at night he's so sweet. He just looks at me all calm and bright eyed. No fussing. Just happy to be there. Too bad I'm bleary eyed and disoriented. But I really try to enjoy those times.
  • Fed DS a little bit ago and now he's asleep on me. I also was watching the football game but switched to friends about 20 minutes ago. I was happy to see that Denver was winning. I feel neutral about Denver but dislike the Ravens.

Haha me too! Leonard is the best! I love when I get some of the jokes too. Makes me feel smart. I hope you're asleep before he has a chance to sing to you though!

I love the Big Bang theory. Sometimes I will sing soft kitty to DS.

  • DS just crashed after feeding, I'm too afraid to move him to his bassinet because I don't want to wake him. I'm gonna have to go for it soon so I can get a little sleep. I'm hoping for a 3 hour stretch before the next feeding...fingers crossed!

  • Feeding two. All of half an hour later with no nap in between. Gonna be a long night.

I was looking at the MyFitnessPal ap, and I am starting to wonder if DD has a sensitivity to peanuts. I had a peanut carmel apple about four hours before she started fussing last night, and a pbj sandwich about five days ago when she had her other super fussy night.

Or I am delirious and crazy.

Anyone have a baby with peanut sensitivity?

  • Up for feeding number one. And feeling exhausted. We all have to make it out of the house tomorrow morning by 10 for DS1's preschool open house. It should be interesting!
  • My son is definitely going through a growth spurt. He's been so fussy and irritable all day. He's sleeping right now so he will be up screaming soon for his next feed. Poor guy!

  • I'm actually not even up with LO. I'm up doing homework! Ugh! DD was a fuss butt during the day and didn't take any of those nice, looong naps so with dad gone at work until late I got nothing done. My assignment is due in the morning so here I am! She'll be awake to eat soon I'm sure and then I'm crossing my fingers for a nice 5 hour stretch again.

It could be a clogged duct. I had one of those last week and it was extremely painful (throbbing, even). I didnt have redness, swelling, streaks, pus, etc. The treatment for a clogged duct is similar to mastitis, except mastitis requires antibiotics: rest, massage, warm compresses and complete emptying (pumping and nursing ever 2 hour or so). It hurts terribly but it gets better in a day or so.

  • I seriously can't take the fussiness anymore. He will randomly burst out into a cry and I don't know why! It's super frustrating :( he's been eating every two hours on the dot today. Luckily, he went from 9:30- feeding right now. Hoping to get another break quickly!

I think it is. Ive been trying heat followed by pumping and three drops come out when i pump. Im able to relieve some pressure in the shower by massaging and hand expressing. So i think thats why my peck hurts other then the softball sized painful lump in my breast.

Hopefully it doesnt turn into mastitis

I had a night like that last night. Hang in there. Ds had me in tears with exhaustion most of last night. Just keep going over the list of questions.

    Is he hungry?
    Does his diaper need changing?
    Does he have gas?

If all else fails maybe your lo just needs to snuggled. Dont forget its okay to walk away for five ten minutes if your feeling over whelmed and need a break.

  • DD has been sleeping for three hours and I am super bummed I didn't go to sleep when she did even if it was 8 pm. Oh well. My mom comes tomorrow and I am not sure how its going to go having her, me, and DH here. There just isn't that much to do and I want all the baby snuggles!

I have been looking into gas drops. I am so nervous to give them to her. I don't want to ruin her for life!

  • We have a doctor appt tomorrow to see if LO has pink eye. The blocked tear duct has gotten progressively worse now her eyes are an irritated runny mess. Poor baby! On a positive note, she slept 5 hrs in her brand new RnP!
  • I am trying to transition from bassinet to crib tonight she did great at 11 woke up a little after 1 fed her she keeps falling asleep but every time I lay her she wakes. We shall see how it goes...
  • Up for feeding...so much for hoping on a 3 and 4 hour stretch tonight. DH is laying beside me and with every snore I fight the urge to throat punch him. It's not like he could feed her, but the snoring it pissing me off

  • I have been looking into gas drops. I am so nervous to give them to her. I don't want to ruin her for life!

You can't ruin a newborn for life! All gas drops do is take large gas bubbles and split them into small ones. (Smaller bubbles are easier for baby to deal with.)

Feeding three with no hope of sleep in the near future. Booo!
