Question about cycles

When trying to track your cycle, are you supposed to count the 1st day of your period as day1 or do you count from the 1st day of your period (meaning day2 of your period is day1)? For example, i'm starting my period this sunday so is sunday considered day 1 or is monday considered day 1? Thanks!
