Chobani yogurt

Ewww! And I love this yogurt. What is up with dairy lately?

Last week I bought a $4 half gallon of Horizon milk (sell by 9/29) and as soon as I opened it, it smelled bad. I took a tiny sip and it was awful. This was a month before the expiration date. If I wouldn't have been so lazy I would have gone back to Target to complain.

Re: Chobani yogurt

  • I saw a news show once on how there are many refrigerated shipping companies with absolutely no quality control and few qualms about passing improperly handled products off to supermarkets. It's a real problem apparently.

  • Off topic but kind of related...

I just saw Aldi meat was found to have 40-100% horse meat.

  • I kept having problems with my milk going bad, I would buy half gallons and they would be bad within a day or two. Our fridge is new, and on the coolest setting, so I couldn't figure out why. I just started buying some local milk in glass jugs, and we don't seem to have the same problems. But it is way more expensive, and that is one reason DD is really the only one drinking milk around our house. I think the grocery stores or the suppliers are not keeping the dairy stuff cold enough.

  • I just had to dig through the trash to check my label.

  • The article makes it sound like it was only the yogurt cups that were impacted.  The Chobani Champions squeeze tubes are a staple for DS since he doesn't drink milk.

I tossed 3 cups this weekend because they tasted tart and were quite watery.  I had opened one for DS and he took a bite and said "I don't like this blue yogurt" - he usually loves blueberry so I tried it and it was not right.

ETA - these were from Target too...

This just happened to us with two gallons of Stoneyfield milk. Poor DS got a stomach ache because I didn't think to check since it was brand new.

  • If anybody is looking for a substitute version of Greek yogurt the Yoplait greek is awesome.  I haven't eaten Chobani since it came out.
