Stroller recs

Good morning Ladies (and if there are any dudes out there). Extreme lurker here. I just wanted you all to share with me your stroller recs. I had the B-agile which I absolutely LOVED, until it nearly amputated my fathers finger when he closed it. The quick 1 hand fold was a little too quick and he was using 2 hands (which is how I would fold it 99% of the time also) and didn't get his hand out of the way in time. Anyways, Britax really was wonderful and took full responsibility and actually offered to send me the B-ready (as you know a much more expensive stroller) as a replacement. I have been trying to make due, but I absolutely HATE the thing. The only thing I do like about it is that the seat is reversible. It is huge for me to lift up and to stick in my car and I can fit through barely any isles trying to shop with it. So now I am back to square one. I am considering the city mini because although it does have the same 1 hand fold it does not lock itself as the b-agile does and we thing that is where the chopping on his finger happened. Or I am wondering if I should just move to an umbrella stroller since she is pushing 1 year old. I am a first time mom here, so please share with me you opinions. TIA. Have great days!

  • If you drive a lot, I have hear amazing things about teh city mini, which is basically an amped up umbrella stroller. That would be my choice.

  • I picked up a used Baby Trend passport stroller for $10 to use for vacations. Like this one https://www.babytrend.com/strollers_single/ST15089.html  It is lightweight and easy to open and close too. It isn't fancy but it gets the job done and Emma seems to love it. It does have a bigger basket underneath then my B Agile.

  • I just switched to an Umbrella stroller, I got the First Years Ignite. So far no problems and its light, easy to move and folds up pretty small.
  • Thanks ladies. It just makes me dizzy all of the options out there that I really appreciate all of your recommendations.

  • I think it depends on HOW you will be using your stroller for!  We have the City Mini GT and I love it for my needs - WE go out for walks on a bike trail 5 days/wk so I really need one that have great wheels and good handling.  What I don't like is that it's heavy and takes up trunk space, and it is kind of big if/when I use it in places like stores or museums.

If you use it daily for walks, then definitely consider City Mini or GT.  But if you are only using it for occasional trips to the mall, then an umbrella stroller should be sufficient.

Ideally I'd like to get a G-Luxe for the car and trips to malls & museums, in addition to our GT for my daily walks.

We have the city mini GT. It's comperable in size to the britax ones, I think. The base is a but wide but it pushes so smoothly on all surfaces. We even took it on a hike. If you want something smaller I don't think that's what you're looking for though. I do have trouble in stores sometimes if the racks are close together. I also wish the basket were a little bigger. The extra features were worth the extra cost over the regular city mini.
We have the same stroller, and I will agree with Piffle's pros and cons.  An additional con about the City Mini is that it folds with the interior facing out, so it isn't a great stroller for gate checking at airports...if that's important to you :-P  Otherwise, we really like it.  But buy a drink holder attachment, because that's one thing that's really lacking.

  • @mbm1983 I actually watched it all happen. My father closed it the same way I would find myself doing it also. Although it is meant to be a one hand fold, I would push the button with one hand and pull the strap with the other. I would usually end up standing in front of the stroller and doing it but my father was on the side reaching over and he must not have pulled his finger away quick enough after pushing the button before pulling the strap. Oh the guilt I felt that he was just trying to give me a helping hand which he almost did, literally.
