Pregnant & TTC After a Preemie Check In 9/5/13

Welcome to the check in group for Pregnant After Preemie! This group is also for those who are actively trying to conceive, planning on it, or just thinking about it...

So, list your first name, due date if you're pregnant or ttc timeline, preemie's name and gestational age at birth as well as the reason for their prematurity.

Last week Updates:

It was great to hear from @jcsntms06 who updated us on her kiddos-Annabelle will be 4 in a few weeks and Caroline's language has really picked up and getting into everything lately!

Congratulations to ShannonSky who announced her BFP with Baby #3! Happy and healthy 9 months to you! Please keep us updated!

We have a new member aquariogirl who is on the thinking about TTC list; she is currently still on BP meds for the last 17 months after having DS at 31 weeks due to sudden onset of pre-e.

CurlingRocks: 37 weeks! Woohoo!!! On Team Green but will be picking out family names; if it's a boy, middle name will be after MFM because they like it and to honor all the things that he did for her during pregnancy. Love that idea!

CTbride79: came off BCP on July 20th and no AF yet; had 2 OPK's 16 days apart but wasn't temping so not sure if she O'd yet; FX that AF comes soon so you can officially start TTC

vsalt31: checked in-no new updates; please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for no more cervical changes or contractions and for the reactions to P17 shots to subside

***I would just like to add that it would be nice to hear from everyone on a more consistent basis even if there is no news to share. We would all love to hear that everyone is doing well! So, just for fun, I am adding a QOTW***

Re: Pregnant & TTC After a Preemie Check In 9/5/13

  • @CurlingRocks Yay for 38 weeks! By that point in my pregnancy, I was thinking "I'm still pregnant?" lol!

I guess I should clarify with the QOTW: Besides the basics, what do you think is a must have? Like I thought I HAD to get bedding set. I did end up getting an expensive one for DS, (DH insisted on neutral colors though so we could use it for baby #2) but in the end, I did not really use most of what's in it: the quilt, diaper stacker, and valance. I wish I would have bought a changing table. We just always used to change DS (and now with DD) on the floor cause we are both paranoid that they would roll off.

  • I'm happy to announce I got a BFP!

It's still early - I'm not even 4 weeks yet. Lines are still faint but confirmed on a digi this afternoon. EDD May 17th, 2014. My first OB appointment isn't until Oct. 3rd, so I'll be anxiously awaiting that! I'm praying for a sticky, healthy, full-term baby!

  • Yay curlingrocks! 38wks seems like a miracle to us!

No major updates from me. Lots of contractions, but my next cervical u/s isn't until Tuesday am. Fingers Xed!

QOTW: my bottle warmer. Since I EPed for a year, we used it all of the time rather than warming a cup of water.

  • @MinaE01 Congrats on your BFP! and I agree about the swing-it has been a lifesaver for us for both kids!

@vsalt31 I am so sorry about still having contractions, but hopefully no more cervical changes. Are you still having reactions to the shots? Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

  • I wanted to wait to post until it was actually time for us. This is my first month off birth control, so we are officially TTC now. DD was born at 30 weeks due to my bicornuate uterus, incompetent cervix, and PTL.

Thanks so much. And yes, unfortunately, I'm allergic to the injections. I saw a dermatologist who gave me a script for some topical cream, which doesn't help much. But if this is the lesser of the evils, I'll take it any day!

I've been spending my last few weeks wrapping my head around some new information while keeping DS busy while DH is back to work (he's a teacher).

I had an ultrasound with my MFM. Baby is measuring in the 24th percentile: small, but okay and we will be watching this. They also checked my uterine arteries to find that I have 'severe notching' which is an indicator of likely pre-e and possibly HELLP again later in the pregnancy. I go back for a re-scan on October 1, and after my OB appt the last week of September they will start moving my appointments closer together. My OB is currently hoping to keep me healthy to 31 weeks and in his words have me "delivered and home for Christmas". While I was initially disappointed hearing the words "no vbac" and "early delivery", I am okay with this outcome as one of our main goals is to keep me as healthy as possible and prevent me from becoming so sick again.

At this point, this pregnancy could go either way, early preemie, late preemie--who knows! I'm thankful to have time to prepare this time around and will be monitored and be able to see the onset of potential issues.

ETA: QOTW: DS LOVED his swing and it was such a lifesaver. This time around I'm looking to invest in a rock and play and possibly an Ergo down the road.

  • Update: no noticeable cervical changes as of this AM!!! Whoot!!!

But, contractions are still ongoing where I have episodes of them every 2-3 minutes for a few hrs at a time. Sooo nerve wrecking!! I feel like I could have PROM any moment.

  • @ SweetPeaKate I am sorry to hear about all the information that you just received. Praying that you and LO stay healthy for as long as possible and that if she is born early, that it will be later in the pregnancy. I am glad that they are keeping such a close eye on you though. Also sending positive vibes for your scan on Oct. 1.

@vsalt31 So happy for you for no cervical changes! I just wish that those contractions would stop for you.
