High-Risk Pregnancy

New to this

Quick intro:
I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow, and haven't had any issues until this past Sunday.
Around 11:30pm I went to L&D with contractions that were coming every 3-4 minutes and strong.
I was given steroid shots to mature babies lungs, BP medication (which I will have to take until I deliver) and put on BR until I'm 35 weeks. Thankfully the fFn test came back negative and my cervix hasn't changed.
I was released Tuesday and so we start the "BR chapter"

Re: New to this

  • Welcome... and I hope you feel good!!

I had a similar story at 31 weeks... but with a history of uterine irritability, a negative ffn and very little cervical change after many many hours of contractions (3-5 minutes apart but only really strong in the first 3+ hours), I was sent home on Modified BR and then taken off a few days later when my cervix reverted back to long and closed.

Here's hoping that you are able to feel good and get off BR even sooner if your body is up to it!

  • I've heard about the uterine irritability and almost believe that that is the case for me as well and I want to go as far as say that maybe even stress?
My cervix didn't change despite the contractions (thank goodness)
I'm waiting for my next appointment in 9 days and maybe I'm lucky and will be taken off BR a little bit sooner like you said :)

  • Welcome!
I was in a similar situation at 24wks and have been on bed rest since.
Did they give you a px for Procardia to take as needed? That along with the negative ffn has given me great peace of mind.

Hoping the next 6 weeks go smoothly for you with very little "activity." This board is a great resource and the women on here are wonderful.

Oh boy since 24 weeks? How far along are you now? And yes, I do hope to for very little activity for the weeks to come
