What is the going rate for a babysitter in Chicago?

About 10 years ago, I used to nanny in the area and was paid $13 an hour for my services. 

Now I'm in the position where I'll be seeking an occasional sitter, and I'm wondering what the going hourly rate is for one child.  

For those of you who use a babysitter, how much do you pay?

I would think this would depend on where you are (city vs burbs) and what type of sitter you are hiring.  Nanny's still make in the $10-$15 an hour range, even for occasional sitter jobs.  If you're just using a high school or college student, I would think you could pay less.  We'll plan on using a college student in our neighborhood (northwest side) who charges $7 an hour and then $1 more per additional child.

You can always check sitter city or care.com and see what the sitters are posting as their hourly rate in your area.

We usually pay around $10/hour or so for 2 kids, but the kids are usually asleep the majority of the time.  Seems like highway robbery to me, but you do what you gotta do

it ranges but keep in mind what min wage is and at least offer that... the more educated, invloved and knowledgeable ones charge $15-25 per hr depending on if there are transportation request  (driving your kids to events or picking up) and multiple kids
