MOPS

Has anyone ever joined a MOPS group?  If so, did you think it was worth it (and worth potentially messing up my LO's first nap)?  I would like to join a mom's group, but the one near my house starts in the middle of my LO's first nap, which would make a pretty cranky baby (and ultimately, a tired mommy).  How do moms with little ones join moms groups without disrupting their LOs' nap schedules?

Re: MOPS

  • That's my main problem.  I can't even join groups for the sake of my older children because they always seem to be timed during the younger kids' very necessary naps.

If you're craving mom interaction, perhaps you could start your own informal group that would be at a better time for your baby.  That's what I've had to do.  I noticed that the same group of moms was at the park when we went every time (at the same time of day).  Our kids were on the same schedules, apparently.  After a while we started calling each other to do other things, like go to the zoo or museum together.  It has been great for us.

  • I've been in MOPS for 7 years and I highly recommend it.  Some of my closest mom friends have come from this group.  I find that LO is usually exhausted after and takes a great afternoon nap.

We love our MOPS group. Our new baby has 2 older sibs, so I cant just have them sit around the house all day for her nap schedule. MOPS only meets 2x a month for meetings and the rest is non-mandatory playdates at various times. Even though the meetings are during nap time, I take her anyways LOL She has a great time and usually isnt fussy in the baby area because she's having so much fun in the new surroundings. She then passes out in the car on the way home and takes a fabulous nap when we get there. I figure its only an occasional late morning nap. I highly recommend going :)
