I obviously know not to compare babies because they all grow/develop at their own pace, but I keep reading about all these babies sitting unassisted at 4 months, and STTN at 2 months, etc.
So I'm wondering- What do you all consider STTN and sitting unassisted?
Ben is a little over 5 months and is just starting to really get the hang of the sitting thing- can do it for a minute or so and then flops over. He usually sleeps 8pm-5am and then back down until 9am after a bottle, but when I think about it he's still waking up once during his overnight sleep so I don't technically consider it STTN, but that's just me! (I know the 'definition' says 6 straight hours or something)
Just wondering what your definitions of those things are!
Re: What do you consider..
I'm also surprised to read about all these LOs sitting up at such an early age. DD loves to sit up with help but I can tell she has a long way to go before she is doing it on her own.
Sitting unassisted means just that. Not propped up on anything or using their hands for total support.
For us, sitting unassisted was when she could last a good 5minutes using her hands to hold toys (rather than leaning forward at a weird angle using hands to hold her up). Also, with nothing behind her (like boppy pillow). I knew for sure she could sit unassisted the day she was sitting there holding toys, laughing and kicking her feet around without flopping over!
Of course, I still leave padding and pillows behind (and around her) since she does randomly flop...they just aren't supporting her at all.
FWIW, I consider 8pm-5am to be STTN because I'd consider 5am close enough morning.
I consider sitting unassisted to mean there's nothing supporting them besides themselves, so leaning forward in tripod position would be unassisted. DD1 sat unassisted at 6 months. DD2 sat unassisted at 5 months. DD3 sits very well with support but isn't close to sitting unassisted yet. (She's 5 months old.)

I wouldn't say it's impossible. Babies are sooo different when it comes to sleeping.
Every baby is different. My DS, who gained weight lots faster than my DD, is still not STTN at 13 weeks.
I consider STTN to be at least 8 hours of solid sleep and sitting unassisted for at least a few minutes to be "meeting" these milestones.
