Palmers tummy butter

Anyone use this and have a problem?! Dh picked me up some at the store and after using it I have broken out in this red itchy rash on my bump and boobs. If the rash does not go away by tomorrow I will call my ob and see what they want me to do but be warned fellow preggos :-/...and of course this happens the day dh leaves for the field for a month...

Re: Palmers tummy butter

  • No, I've never heard of that! Did you get the rash instantly after the first use? I use Burts Bees Belly Butter and that seems to work well. Maybe you should try that instead?

  • My dermatologist told me that even if you used lotion with a certain scent/smell/etc before getting pregnant you could get a rash from it when you are pregnant. So I bet that's is what happened to you. Which stinks because I live for the Palmers cocoa butter oil and lotion! I would call your doc...but I hope its as simple as a reaction for you!
  • I used it then overnight I got the rash. I have been using the Bella B products but ran out and have not put a order in yet but I will try the Burt's stuff if I can find it in stores. Thanks :)

  • Make sure you wash off all affected areas, be careful though not to let the run off get into even more sensitive areas.....You should be able to take a Benedryl and see if the reaction goes away within 24hrs!

Good Luck and sorry that this happened to you!

  • Yes! I did with DS1 and I have not tried it since then, it was awful. It will go away in a day or two, try taking an oatmeal bath.

  • Oatmeal bath and benadryl are great ideas!  I have not had this happen so I just hope you fel better soon!  I live for the Palmers, but I also use Spoiled mama and its just divine in a bottle.  Good luck!

  • I use it and haven't had any difficulties, although it is not helping with stretch marks! Hope your rash clears up quickly.

  • I have super sensitive skin and broke out from using it with my first. I just use lubriderm, eucerin, or cetaphil lotions that have no smell or additives.

  • My midwife recommended not using that butter because of the caffeine (through skin, going to baby) I've been using coconut oil instead. Maybe try that? Hope it works for you. xx

  • Try bio oil. I'm obsessed with it and put it on twice a day religiously. No allergic reactions here and I love the smell.

  • I use this Palmers. On the back it says to test on a small area and wait 24 hours before applying to a larger area since pregnant women's skin can be sensitive and break out in to a rash.

I was lucky and this didn't happen to me.

I also use Burt Bee's Mama Bee Belly Oil and it works great. :)
