    The Name Game

Are you named after anyone? How about LO(s)? Nope! LO's middle name is after my AMAZING grandmother.

How did you come up with his/her name(s)? Middle name was a given..... We had always liked the name Molly - but had another name (Natalie) in mind..... once we found out LO was indeed a girl - we started calling her Natalie and it took two days for both of us to look at each other and agree it wasn't right..... We decided on Molly right away - started referring to her as that (although we told no one)..... and instantly knew we had our winner. It was strange instincts.

What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? Girls names? I don't have anything I feel too strongly about - still like Natalie, but probably won't end up using it - I also like Norah for a girl..... and would probably push that if I got pregnant with another girl tomorrow. We still have our boys name (Gavin Timothy) if we end up needing it.

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? Classic and Irish

The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why!... oooooh this is tough.... Nothing is really jumping out at me. I'm sure there is something out there that I've said a million times, but for the life of me I'm drawing a blank at the moment!

ETA:  I knew it would come to me - I love the name Cara - but won't use it because my mom is Carol, and even though I love my mom - I don't want to name a daughter after her. I also love Julianna - but won't use it b/c our last name sounds too irish for it!

  • The Name Game

Are you named after anyone? How about LO(s)? My middle name is from my paternal grandmother, but first name is just spontaneous. DS (due in late Feb) will have DH's middle name as his first name. Then DS's middle name will be the name of a family friend who recently passed away to honor him. DD is just named what she is because we liked the name!

How did you come up with his/her name(s)? We had first names picked out for a boy and a girl since before we got married. :)

What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? Girls names? If LO # 2 was a girl, she would have been Cameron Claire.

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? I think we tend to stick with classic names with English/Irish roots.

The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why!  I LOVE the name Emma, but I would never use it because it's so, so popular and I prefer to stay away from the top 10 or 15 names.

  • Are you named after anyone? How about LO(s)? Nope no clue where my name came from. Lo is a name we picked together - broke the family cycle of Joes and Johns. Only his middle name is after his father's & Grandfather's middle name.

How did you come up with his/her name(s)? Only name we agreed upon when randomly going through a name book one day

What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? Girls names? For another boy - I love Cooper. For Girl we are still torn between Giata and Brook

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? eh no clue really - we just want something that sounds good with our last name :) And goes together with our son's name.

The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why! Probably going to be the name Giata I love because I am just so white looking (very Irish) and my husband is Italian so if the baby comes out looking like me - it would be so odd to name her Giata even though we have a very itialian last name

  • Are you named after anyone? How about LO(s)? I am after an Allman Brothers song and so is my sister. O is a name DH and I both liked.
How did you come up with his/her name(s)?  We needed 2 boys names (when we were still expecting twins and Owen was the second one)
What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? Girls names?
    Boys: Kyle, Gavin, Devin
Girls: Annabelle, Claire, Noelle, Cara, Clara
What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? Classic/Vintage - I love easy names that teachers won't have trouble pronouncing considering our last name will give them enough trouble :)
The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why! Lily or Camille/Celeste.  Lily was my beautiful orange striped cat that passed away a couple of years ago, and Camille or Celeste would go terribly with our last name plus DH hates them!

**After looking at this response it appears that I'm destine to have a girl the next time if I could be so lucky!**

    The Name Game

Are you named after anyone? How about LO(s)?

My middle name is my mom's name (Karen), but spelled differently. DS1 (Kieran James) is named after my mom as well since she passed away from leukemia 8 years ago. DS2's (Colin Michael) middle name is after DH's "aunt" Michelle (not blood relation) who passed away from non-Hodgkin lymphoma many years ago. DH is a Hodgkin lymphoma survivor, so honoring our family was very important to us.

How did you come up with his/her name(s)?

The reasons above; also, I've always loved the name Colin, and James goes really well with Kieran (we call him KJ, even though it makes me a little sad that he might go by that because I love his name)

What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? Girls names?

I like Jason, Adam; For girls Morgan, Megan, Caroline (which was going to be DS2's name when we thought he was a DD)

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)?

Classic, especially as far as DH is concerned. I tend to be a little more modern than him.

The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why!

Bailey (for a girl)... could NEVER use it since our last name is also the name of an alcoholic beverage and I wouldn't want the poor child to be scarred for life, LOL!

Are you named after anyone? How about LO(s)?FN, no, middle after my grandma's FN. J has an original FN and a family middle name (god mothers FN, mom and grandmas MN).

How did you come up with his/her name(s)?We were down to the wire. I tossed it out to DH when we were walking our dog at 37w, I had J at 38w, so it was a good thing we had one!

What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? Girls names?Well, we have our boy name picked out (we were team green) I'm planning to use it when/if we are blessed with a son. No other girl names were on the list.

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? Here was my criteria- more classic, easy to say, easy to spell (name without multiple variations), and not in the top 100. Simon is my perfect name for a boy.  DH was fixated on no boy or gender neutral names for a girl.

The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why!Boy is Simon. I love, love this name. It fits my criteria 100%. DH hates it ;(Girl, I love Caroline, but again DH hates it and it is a bit too popular.

  • Are you named after anyone? How about LO(s)? I am not (although my mom found out later on that a distant family member had my name). LO's middle name is after my dad.

How did you come up with his/her name(s)? I honestly just threw ideas out and got H's name. It was one DH didn't veto.

What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? Girls names? Boys names - Jensen, I have a hard time with these since DH seems to have an opinion here and not on girls names. Girls - Mattie (after my great-grandmother), Alayna, and Abby.

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? I have no idea! I like some of the classic names but then again I like some of the more unique but not strange names as well.

The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why! Lucy because my mom named her dog that and Owen because DH vetoed it. When we transferred two embryos I was thinking of twin names just in case and the only other boy name I wanted was Owen (to go along with a family name from DH's side since H's middle name is after my dad). Apparently DH knows an Owen that isn't a good person and didn't want to associate that name with that person.

Lila Elise is named in memory of DH's grandfather Lorenz and his great aunt Elsa, who never had children. We need to find a first name with L and middle name starting with E because the other way would have given the initials ELF. We brainstormed until we found a combination we liked. Currently on our shirt list for boys:.Nathaniel, Aaron, Gregory, Isaac Short list for girls:,Abigail, Rebecca, Dina, Talia. I never thought I had a naming style but I guess it's classic, somewhat ethnic. A name I love but would not use is Judah because it sounds much too ethnic with our last name. I also cannot use Gabriel and Zachary because they are already claimed by family members.

How did you come up with his/her name(s)?DH AND I HAD NAMES PICKED OUT FOR OUR LO WHEN WE WERE DATING

What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? BRODY Girls names? JULIA

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? WHATEVER I LIKE. LOL

The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is BRODY. Tell us why! DH IS ITALIAN AND DOESNT WANT ANY OTHER NAMES

  • Are you named after anyone? How about LO(s)? There was a character on a popular soap opera with my name at the time I was born. Let's just say I have met quite a few people around my age with the same name :-) DS1 is named after DH's father, but no one calls him by that name and it's not really why we chose it. DS2 and DD aren't named after anyone.

How did you come up with his/her name(s)? For all of our LOs, DH and I decided that we wouldn't choose any of the names that had made the top 100 list recently. We really just chose names that we liked and that fit that criteria.

What's on your short list of favorite boys names as of now? Girls names? Boys - Noah & Jack, Girls - Lola, Brooklyn, Paige, Mia, & Stella

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? I guess a mix of retro and unique?

The name I love, love, LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why! Either Lola or Stella. I love, love, love the name Lola, but my niece's name is Lyla. It would just be too similar. And I have always thought Stella was such a classic, cute name for a girl. DH doesn't agree.

How did you come up with his/her name(s)? First name was one we just liked, and her middle name is a family name.

What's your naming "style" (classic, vintage, retro, unique, ethnic, etc)? Classic, I think.

The name I love, love,LOVE but could never use is ______. Tell us why! Aiden. I love it because it means "little fire" and DH is a firefighter. It's really an awesome name. However, it doesn't sound good with our last name AND it's really overpopular right now.
